Match Overview

The first quarter was competitive, with Charleroi using home energy to stay close. Liege led 18-14 after ten minutes, but the game still felt balanced. That changed in the second quarter, when Liege tightened their defense and forced Charleroi into a series of rushed shots and turnovers.

By halftime, Liege had extended their lead to 38-26. Charleroi struggled to generate offense against Liege’s compact zone and aggressive help defense. The visitors kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter, and although Charleroi showed brief signs of a comeback, Liege’s steady execution closed the door.

Key Moments

The decisive stretch came midway through the second quarter. Liege went on a 12-0 run, capitalizing on Charleroi’s missed shots and live-ball turnovers. That run turned a four-point game into a 16-point advantage and gave the visitors control they would never relinquish.

• Quarter scoring: 14-18, 12-20, 13-15, 11-15.
• Halftime: Liege Women 38, Charleroi Women 26.
• Final: Liege Women 68, Charleroi Women 50.

Tactical Story

Liege’s defense was the key to the win. They blocked driving lanes, rotated quickly to shooters, and dominated the defensive glass. Offensively, they played with patience, moving the ball until they found an open look. Their inside-outside balance kept Charleroi guessing all night.

Charleroi Women struggled with shot selection and turnovers. When they did get open looks, they could not convert consistently from beyond the arc. Their half-court offense often stalled, forcing difficult contested jumpers late in the shot clock. Defensively, they had no answer for Liege’s balanced attack.

Standout Performers

Liege’s leading scorer paced the offense with a composed performance, while their point guard controlled the tempo and distributed effectively. The frontcourt controlled the boards on both ends. For Charleroi, a few players fought hard on the glass, but the team’s overall shooting struggles prevented any sustained run.

Season Impact

The victory is an important road result for Liege Women in Belgium Women’s Div 1, improving their standing and reinforcing their defensive identity. Charleroi Women will need to address their offensive execution and ball security if they are to bounce back in the coming weeks. Liege, meanwhile, will look to build on a complete team performance.
