Cholet delivered a composed, professional performance in the Basketball Champions League on October 15, 2026, defeating German side RASTA Vechta 84-66 in front of their home crowd. The 18-point margin reflects a game that Cholet controlled almost from start to finish, with defense providing the platform for a balanced offensive display.

Match Overview

The opening quarter was tight, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to establish a meaningful advantage. RASTA Vechta's early success came from accurate perimeter shooting and aggressive drives to the rim, but Cholet stayed patient, working the ball inside-out and drawing fouls to keep the scoreboard moving. By the end of the first period, the French side had edged ahead and would not surrender the lead again.

Key Moments

• Late first quarter: Cholet closes on a 7-0 run to take control
• Second quarter: A 12-3 burst midway through the period pushes the lead into double figures
• Third quarter: Vechta trims the gap to nine before Cholet answers with three straight stops and scores
• Fourth quarter: Cholet's bench extends the lead beyond 20, sealing the result

Tactical Story

Cholet's defensive scheme was the story of the night. They switched between man-to-man and a compact zone, disrupting RASTA Vechta's preferred pick-and-roll actions and forcing the visitors into contested mid-range shots. Vechta's ball handlers were consistently met at the point of attack, and their big men struggled to establish deep post position against Cholet's physical front line.

Offensively, Cholet shared the ball beautifully. Assists were spread across the roster, and the team repeatedly exploited mismatches created by screening actions. When Vechta collapsed on the driver, Cholet's shooters were waiting in the corners. When the defense stayed home, the guards attacked the rim. It was a textbook example of a team reading and punishing defensive choices.

Standout Players

Cholet's leading scorer combined efficient shooting with strong playmaking, repeatedly drawing two defenders and finding the open man. Their interior anchor was dominant on the glass, finishing with a double-double and altering numerous shots at the rim. Off the bench, a young guard provided a spark with back-to-back three-pointers in the fourth quarter that effectively ended the contest.

For RASTA Vechta, the night was a difficult one. Their shooting guard fought hard for points and was the team's most reliable offensive option, while the starting center competed well on the boards. But the German side's turnover count — particularly in the third quarter — proved costly, gifting Cholet easy transition baskets at the worst possible moments.

Basketball Champions League Context

An 18-point home win is exactly the kind of result that shapes group standings. Cholet now hold a valuable points differential that could prove decisive if the group comes down to tiebreakers, while the confidence gained from a defensive performance of this quality is arguably worth even more.

RASTA Vechta leave with lessons to absorb. Their offense has shown flashes of real quality, but the Basketball Champions League punishes teams that cannot protect the ball against aggressive, well-drilled defenses. Their home fixtures now become must-win territory.
