Bayern München 113-60 EWE Baskets Oldenburg: Bavarians Demolish Oldenburg in Basketball Bundesliga Blowout

Bayern München delivered a ruthless statement on Sunday, 4 October 2026, crushing EWE Baskets Oldenburg 113-60 at SAP Garden in the Basketball Bundesliga. The 53-point victory was one of the most dominant performances of the early season, combining a blistering offensive display with a defensive effort that suffocated Oldenburg for all four quarters.

Match Overview

From the opening tip, Bayern played with championship-level intensity. The Bavarians raced to a 15-2 lead in the first four minutes and never allowed Oldenburg to settle into their offense. By halftime, the score was 58-26, and the only remaining question was the final margin.

Bayern finished with six players in double figures, shot 56.8% from the field and knocked down 19 three-pointers. Oldenburg, by contrast, managed just 31.8% shooting and committed 22 turnovers. The result reinforced Bayern’s status as a major force in the Basketball Bundesliga and sent a clear message to the rest of the league.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• First quarter: Bayern 30, Oldenburg 14 — The hosts set the tone with defensive pressure and transition scoring.
• Second quarter: Bayern 28, Oldenburg 12 — An 18-0 run blew the game open before halftime.
• Third quarter: Bayern 27, Oldenburg 17 — Bayern’s bench maintained the intensity and extended the lead.
• Fourth quarter: Bayern 28, Oldenburg 17 — The Bavarians emptied the bench without losing momentum.

Offensive Masterclass

Bayern’s offense was a clinic in ball movement and shot selection. The hosts recorded 32 assists on 42 made baskets, constantly finding the open man against Oldenburg’s rotating defense. Their 19 three-pointers came from a variety of actions: pick-and-pop threes, drive-and-kick opportunities and transition pull-ups.

Andreas Obst was lethal from downtown, hitting five three-pointers on his way to 17 points. Carsen Edwards added 20 points and 4 assists, repeatedly breaking down Oldenburg’s defense off the dribble. Bayern’s frontcourt also contributed heavily on the glass, helping the team to a 45-31 rebounding advantage.

Defensive Wall

While the offense grabbed headlines, Bayern’s defense was equally impressive. The Bavarians held Oldenburg to 21-of-66 shooting and forced 22 turnovers, many of which turned into easy fast-break points. Their perimeter defenders fought over screens, their big men protected the rim, and their help rotations were consistently on time.

Oldenburg’s leading scorer managed just 14 points, and no other player reached double figures. The visitors were held to 6-of-28 from three-point range and rarely got to the free-throw line. It was a complete defensive performance from Bayern, who looked every bit like a team capable of competing for the BBL title.

Standout Players

• Carsen Edwards (Bayern München): 20 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds — the engine of the Bayern attack.
• Andreas Obst (Bayern München): 17 points, 5-of-8 from three — stretched the defense and opened driving lanes.
• Nick Weiler-Babb (Bayern München): 12 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds — controlled the game on both ends.
• Oldenburg’s veteran guard: 14 points, 3 assists — one of the few bright spots in a difficult night.

What It Means in the BBL Standings

The victory strengthens Bayern München’s position near the top of the Basketball Bundesliga standings and adds a significant point-differential advantage that could matter in playoff seeding. For EWE Baskets Oldenburg, the loss is a harsh lesson in the level required to compete with the league’s elite.

Bayern will look to build on this performance as they continue their domestic and European campaigns. Oldenburg, meanwhile, must regroup quickly, tighten their ball security and find more consistent scoring options before their next fixture. On this evidence, Bayern München are firmly in the title conversation.
