Alba Berlin secured a 98-82 win over Ratiopharm Ulm in a high-tempo Basketball Bundesliga clash, with the Berlin side's offensive efficiency and depth proving decisive in a game that delivered plenty of entertainment. The hosts dictated the pace throughout and pulled clear in the second half to record an important home victory.

Match Overview

The game opened at a lively tempo, with both teams pushing the ball and looking to score early. Ratiopharm Ulm showed ambition from the start, attacking the rim and knocking down shots to stay in touch. Alba Berlin, however, gradually found their rhythm, using their ball movement to open up driving lanes and create open threes. The first quarter ended with the hosts holding a narrow edge.

The second and third quarters proved decisive. Alba Berlin's defense tightened, forcing Ulm into tougher shots and long possessions, while their offense continued to find efficient looks. The lead extended through the third period, and while Ulm kept battling into the fourth, they could not produce the consistent run needed to threaten a comeback. Alba's composure in the closing minutes secured a comfortable margin.

Key Moments That Turned the Game

• Second-quarter separation: Alba's offensive rhythm built a lead that Ulm were always chasing thereafter.
• Third-quarter defensive clampdown: Berlin's stops in the middle of the game prevented Ulm from gaining momentum.
• Bench contribution: Alba's rotation players maintained intensity and extended the advantage.
• Fourth-quarter control: The hosts answered every Ulm surge with efficient scoring to close out the win.

Tactical Story

Alba Berlin's game plan revolved around pace, spacing, and unselfish passing. Their ability to move the ball quickly stretched Ulm's defense and created clean looks from beyond the arc. Defensively, Berlin were aggressive in closing out and disrupted Ulm's preferred offensive sets, forcing them into contested attempts and turnovers.

Ratiopharm Ulm played with energy and threatened in patches, but their defensive consistency let them down. When Alba increased their intensity on both ends, Ulm struggled to match it, particularly on the glass and in transition. Their shooting also cooled at critical moments, which allowed the hosts to build and maintain a double-digit cushion.

Standout Performances

Alba Berlin benefited from a balanced scoring effort, with contributions spread across the backcourt and frontcourt. Their guards controlled the game's flow and made good decisions in transition, while the big men cleaned up the boards and finished around the basket. That depth is a hallmark of Berlin's approach and was a clear difference in this contest.

Ulm had positive moments from their perimeter players, particularly when they were able to attack. However, without sustained defensive stops, those individual contributions were not enough to swing the game's momentum.

What It Means for the Standings

This victory strengthens Alba Berlin's position in the Basketball Bundesliga and adds a valuable home result to their record. Scoring 98 points at home underlines their offensive potential, and the 16-point margin reflects the control they held over the second half. For Ratiopharm Ulm, the defeat is a reminder of the level required to compete with the league's top clubs, though their spirited play suggests they remain a dangerous opponent on any given night.

Looking Ahead

Alba Berlin will look to sustain this momentum as their Bundesliga campaign continues, with their offensive balance giving them confidence on home court. Ratiopharm Ulm will focus on tightening their defense and improving their rebounding as they prepare for their next fixture.
