Levanga Hokkaido produced a statement road performance on Sunday afternoon, overwhelming the Yokohama B-Corsairs 109-78 in B1 League action. The 31-point margin told the story of a game that was never truly close after the opening minutes, as Hokkaido combined efficient outside shooting with assertive transition play to hand Yokohama a punishing home defeat.

Hokkaido Set the Tone Early

From the opening tip, Levanga Hokkaido looked the sharper and more connected side. Their ball movement stretched the Yokohama defense, creating clean looks from beyond the arc and driving lanes that opened up once the B-Corsairs were forced to close out hard. Hokkaido led by double digits before the end of the first quarter and never allowed Yokohama to settle into a comfortable rhythm.

By halftime, the visitors had built a commanding cushion, and the third quarter turned the contest into a rout. Hokkaido’s bench maintained the intensity, while Yokohama’s offense became increasingly reliant on individual plays rather than sustained ball movement.

Key Moments That Decided the Game

• A late first-half run, capped by consecutive three-pointers, pushed Hokkaido’s lead to more than 20 points and forced Yokohama into catch-up mode.
• Early in the third quarter, Hokkaido opened with a 10-2 burst that erased any hope of a home comeback.
• Yokohama’s turnovers in the open court turned into easy transition points for Hokkaido, who consistently punished the B-Corsairs’ spacing mistakes.

Tactical Story: Pace, Space, and Pressure

Hokkaido’s game plan was built on pace and spacing. Their guards pushed the ball after made baskets and misses alike, forcing Yokohama’s bigs to defend in space. When the B-Corsairs collapsed into the paint, Hokkaido kicked out for open threes; when they stayed home on shooters, the visitors attacked the rim. That two-sided pressure made Yokohama’s defense look a step slow all afternoon.

Defensively, Hokkaido disrupted Yokohama’s pick-and-roll coverage with aggressive hedges and timely switches. The B-Corsairs managed just 78 points and rarely found second-chance opportunities, a reflection of Hokkaido’s control on the glass and their discipline in transition defense.

Standout Performers

Guard Ren Takahashi led Hokkaido with 24 points and eight assists, repeatedly breaking down Yokohama’s defense in the middle of the floor. Forward Marcus Bell added 22 points and 12 rebounds, dominating the interior on both ends, while shooting guard Shohei Ito knocked down five three-pointers on his way to 17 points. For Yokohama, Kenta Mori finished with 18 points, and center Jordan Hayes contributed 14 points and nine rebounds, but the home side lacked the collective firepower to stay within reach.

What It Means for the B1 League Table

The win gives Levanga Hokkaido a valuable road result and reinforces their credentials as a team capable of scoring in bunches. For Yokohama B-Corsairs, the defeat raises familiar questions about perimeter defense and half-court execution. The B-Corsairs will need a quick response in their next outing, while Hokkaido can build on a performance that showcased both their depth and their tactical flexibility.
