Utsunomiya Brex defeated Shinshu Brave Warriors 87-80 in B1 League action on October 24, 2026, using a strong second-half run to pull away from a resilient Shinshu side. The game tipped off at 14:05 local time, and Utsunomiya's defensive pressure and balanced scoring proved too much to handle down the stretch.

Match Overview

The first half was competitive, with Shinshu Brave Warriors showing no signs of being overwhelmed on the road. The Brave Warriors moved the ball well and found success attacking the basket, while Utsunomiya Brex relied on their half-court offense and perimeter shooting to stay in front. The lead changed hands several times, and neither team managed to establish a significant advantage before halftime.

Utsunomiya's depth began to show after the break. The Brex increased their defensive intensity, forced Shinshu into turnovers, and turned those mistakes into transition points. That shift in tempo allowed the home side to build a lead that Shinshu struggled to erase.

Key Moments

The decisive stretch came in the third quarter, when Utsunomiya put together a sustained run fueled by defense. The Brex contested shots, blocked passing lanes, and pushed the ball up the floor before Shinshu could set its defense. A series of quick baskets stretched the lead and forced Shinshu to call timeout.

Shinshu responded with a run of its own in the fourth quarter, cutting into the deficit with timely three-point shooting and aggressive drives. But every time the Brave Warriors threatened, Utsunomiya had an answer. The Brex converted key baskets in the paint and made their free throws late to keep the game out of reach.

Tactical Story

Utsunomiya's defensive pressure was the story of the game. The Brex used their length and activity to disrupt Shinshu's rhythm, particularly in the third quarter. By forcing turnovers and limiting clean looks from the perimeter, Utsunomiya controlled the pace and kept Shinshu from finding consistent offensive flow.

On offense, the Brex shared the ball and attacked mismatches. Their ability to score inside and out made them difficult to guard, and the bench provided valuable minutes to maintain energy. Shinshu's half-court offense had good moments, but the turnovers and empty possessions proved costly.

Standout Performers

Utsunomiya's wing players were instrumental, providing scoring and defensive versatility on the perimeter. The Brex frontcourt controlled the glass and protected the rim, while the guards dictated tempo and made smart decisions in transition. Shinshu's backcourt kept the Brave Warriors in the game with shot-making and penetration, but the team needed more consistency on the defensive end.

The 87-80 win gives Utsunomiya Brex a solid home result in the B1 League standings. The Brex showed the kind of defensive intensity and depth that can carry a team through a long season.
