Altiri Chiba Cruise Past Nagasaki Velca in B1 League Road Win

Altiri Chiba delivered one of the more composed road performances of the early B1 League season on Monday, October 19, 2026, defeating Nagasaki Velca 82-65 at Nagasaki. The final score reflected Chiba’s control on both ends of the floor, with the visitors gradually pulling away after a competitive opening quarter and never allowing Nagasaki to mount a serious late comeback.

The result was built on defense. Chiba held Nagasaki to 65 points and forced the home side into a series of difficult, contested shots. Nagasaki stayed within range early, but the game tilted decisively in the third quarter when Chiba turned a narrow halftime advantage into a double-digit cushion.

Match Overview

Nagasaki opened with good energy and attacked the paint through their frontcourt, but Chiba’s half-court discipline kept the game from turning into a track meet. Chiba led 20-18 after the first quarter and extended the margin to 42-34 by halftime. The decisive stretch came in the third period, when Chiba outscored Nagasaki 24-14 and effectively took control of the contest.

Quarter-by-quarter, the game read as a steady separation rather than a single explosive run:

• Q1: Nagasaki 18, Altiri Chiba 20
• Q2: Nagasaki 16, Altiri Chiba 22
• Q3: Nagasaki 14, Altiri Chiba 24
• Q4: Nagasaki 17, Altiri Chiba 16

Key Moments

The third-quarter surge was the turning point. Chiba tightened its perimeter defense, forced Nagasaki into late-clock possessions and converted several defensive stops into transition opportunities. A 10-0 run midway through the period pushed the lead to 18 and drained much of the home crowd’s momentum.

Nagasaki briefly threatened early in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to 13, but Chiba answered with a pair of timely three-pointers and free throws. The Velca never got the game back within single digits in the final six minutes.

Tactical Story

Chiba’s defensive game plan centered on clogging the paint and daring Nagasaki to beat them from the perimeter. The approach worked: Nagasaki struggled from beyond the arc and had trouble generating clean second-chance points. Chiba also controlled the defensive glass, limiting the Velca’s extra possessions and keeping the tempo at a comfortable pace.

Offensively, Chiba moved the ball well against Nagasaki’s switching defense. The visitors attacked mismatches inside, then kicked out to shooters when the defense collapsed. That balance prevented Nagasaki from stringing together stops.

Standout Performers

Chiba guard Riku Tanaka set the tone with 19 points and seven assists, repeatedly finding seams in Nagasaki’s defense. Forward Sho Kimura added 16 points and nine rebounds, while the Chiba bench contributed crucial minutes on the defensive end. For Nagasaki, center Kaito Mori led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds, but he received limited support from the perimeter.

Season Impact

The win gives Altiri Chiba an important early-season road result and reinforces their credentials as a team capable of winning with defense. For Nagasaki Velca, the loss is a reminder that scoring droughts against disciplined B1 League opponents can quickly turn close games into lopsided ones. The Velca will need sharper perimeter shooting and better ball movement in their next outing.
