The second half was a formality. Fukui continued to pour it on, pushing the lead to 20 points early in the fourth quarter. Yamagata never mounted a serious challenge, and the Blowinds emptied their bench in the final minutes, securing a comfortable 20-point win.

• Second-quarter separation: A 9-0 run midway through the second quarter gave the Blowinds a 40-24 lead.
• Third-quarter knockout: Fukui scored the first eight points of the second half to extend the lead to 53-31, ending any doubt.

Tactical Breakdown

Fukui's defense was the story once again. They held Yamagata to 35% shooting overall and forced 18 turnovers, converting them into 23 points. The Blowinds also dominated the paint, outrebounding Yamagata 45-32 and scoring 44 points inside. Their pick-and-roll coverage was excellent, with big men hedging hard and recovering to protect the rim.

Offensively, Fukui moved the ball well, recording 22 assists on 32 made field goals. They attacked the basket relentlessly, drawing fouls and getting to the line 24 times. Yamagata, meanwhile, settled for contested jumpers and finished with just 8 assists, highlighting their lack of ball movement.

Standout Performers

• Fukui Blowinds: Forward Daiki Nakamura led the way with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Center James Carter added 19 points and 10 rebounds, while guard Shohei Tanaka contributed 14 points and 6 assists.
• Yamagata Wyverns: Guard Ryohei Yamamoto scored 14 points but shot just 4-of-15 from the field. Forward Tatsuya Kimura added 12 points and 7 rebounds, but the team's offensive woes continued.

Season Impact

Fukui Blowinds improve to 4-1 with the win, keeping them in the upper echelon of the B2 League standings. Their defense has been elite through five games, and they look like genuine promotion contenders. Yamagata Wyverns fall to 0-5 and are still searching for their first win. The Wyverns have struggled mightily on both ends of the floor, and a turnaround seems distant unless they can find some offensive consistency.
