Vienna D.C. Timberwolves secured an impressive 80-68 road win against Vienna United Post SV Women in the Austria Women's BDSL on October 26, 2026. In a capital-city derby played at 22:00, the Timberwolves produced a balanced, high-tempo performance that gradually pulled them clear of their hosts and underlined their credentials in the Austrian women's basketball pyramid.

Match Overview

The derby opened at a brisk pace, with both teams eager to run and attack in transition. Vienna United Post SV Women competed well early, using their home familiarity to stay in touch through the first quarter, but the Timberwolves' depth and defensive intensity began to tell as the game wore on. By halftime the visitors had established a working lead that they never fully relinquished.

The final margin of twelve points reflects a performance in which the Timberwolves shared the ball effectively and found scoring from multiple positions, while United Post SV were forced into contested shots and turnovers during key stretches.

Key Moments

• Second-quarter separation: The Timberwolves strung together a decisive run that turned a tight game into a comfortable lead before the break.
• Third-quarter control: Any hopes of a home comeback were dampened as the visitors answered every United Post SV basket with one of their own.
• Closing execution: Solid free-throw shooting and disciplined half-court offense in the fourth quarter closed the door on the hosts.

Tactical Story

Vienna D.C. Timberwolves defended with energy on the perimeter, disrupting United Post SV's ball movement and forcing rushed decisions late in the shot clock. Offensively, they pushed the pace off defensive rebounds and attacked the rim before the home defense could set. That combination of transition scoring and disciplined spacing proved difficult to contain.

United Post SV Women showed flashes of quality, particularly when they succeeded in getting the ball inside, but consistency eluded them. Their shooting went cold at precisely the wrong moments, and the Timberwolves capitalized with efficient scoring runs at the other end.

Season Impact

The victory strengthens the Timberwolves' position in the Austria Women's BDSL standings and adds a derby win to their record — always a valued result in Vienna's basketball circles. For Vienna United Post SV Women, the loss is a chance to regroup and address the defensive lapses that allowed their opponents to build and protect a double-digit lead.
