Racing de Chivilcoy secured a valuable 84-78 road victory over Oberá TC in Argentinian Liga Nacional de Básquetbol action on October 14, 2026. The win lifts Racing in the league standings and hands Oberá a frustrating home defeat in a game that was decided in the final quarter.

Match Overview

Oberá TC started brightly in front of their home crowd, but Racing de Chivilcoy matched them basket for basket early on. The visitors took a slim 22-18 lead after the first quarter, only for Oberá to respond with a stronger second period. By halftime, Racing held a narrow 41-38 advantage.

The third quarter saw Oberá produce their best stretch of the game, outscoring Racing 22-19 to tie the score at 60-60 heading into the final ten minutes. However, Racing saved their most complete basketball for the fourth quarter, pulling away with a decisive 24-18 run to close out the six-point win.

Key Moments

The turning point arrived midway through the fourth quarter. With the game tied at 68-68, Racing’s defense forced three consecutive Oberá turnovers, converting them into quick fast-break points. A pair of three-pointers from the visiting backcourt stretched the lead to eight, and Oberá never fully recovered.

Oberá had one last push in the closing two minutes, cutting the deficit to four, but Racing iced the game at the free-throw line. The visitors shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe in the final minute to seal the result.

Tactical Story

Racing de Chivilcoy employed a compact zone defense that frustrated Oberá’s half-court offense. The hosts struggled to find rhythm from beyond the arc, finishing the night with a modest 7-of-24 from three-point range. Racing, meanwhile, attacked the basket relentlessly, drawing fouls and generating second-chance opportunities through offensive rebounds.

Oberá’s interior game kept them in contention for three quarters, but their inability to protect the ball in crunch time proved costly. Racing’s guards controlled the tempo in the final period, slowing the game down and executing in the pick-and-roll.

Standout Players

• Racing de Chivilcoy: Lucas Andújar led all scorers with 22 points, including four three-pointers. Tomás Rossi added 18 points and 7 assists, while center Facundo Herrera chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds.
• Oberá TC: Martín Gómez recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Nicolás Acosta contributed 15 points and 6 assists, but also committed 5 turnovers.

Season Impact

The victory improves Racing de Chivilcoy’s position in the Liga Nacional de Básquetbol standings, keeping them in the hunt for a top-four seed and home-court advantage in the playoffs. For Oberá TC, the loss is a missed opportunity to gain ground on the teams above them, especially with the game played on their home floor.

Racing will look to build on this road win as they continue a demanding stretch of fixtures. Oberá, meanwhile, must regroup quickly and address their late-game execution, an issue that has now cost them multiple close contests this season. The two sides are scheduled to meet again later in the campaign, and that rematch could carry significant playoff implications.
