Unión Florida Women Handle Berazategui 70-60 in Argentina Women's LLF Clash

Unión Florida Women protected their home court with a composed 70-60 victory over Berazategui Women in Argentina Women's LLF action on Saturday. The hosts controlled the tempo from the opening quarter, built a working lead before halftime, and answered every Berazategui run with timely shot-making to close out a ten-point win.

Match Overview

Tip-off came at 08:00 local time, and Unión Florida immediately established the tone on the defensive end. The hosts pressured the ball handler, forced Berazategui into contested mid-range attempts, and limited clean catch-and-shoot looks from the perimeter. Offensively, Unión Florida worked inside-out, establishing post touches before swinging the ball to open shooters.

Berazategui stayed competitive through effort on the offensive glass and transition opportunities, cutting the deficit to a single possession at points in the second half. But the hosts' composure in the fourth quarter — patient possessions, strong free-throw shooting, and a couple of key defensive stops — proved decisive in a game that was closer than the final margin suggests.

Key Moments

• Second-quarter separation: Unión Florida strung together a run built on defensive stops and transition baskets to take control before the break.
• Third-quarter response: Berazategui trimmed the lead with aggressive drives and second-chance points, forcing the hosts to call timeout and reset.
• Closing stretch: The hosts sealed the result with disciplined half-court execution and clutch free throws in the final minutes.

Tactical Story

Unión Florida's advantage came from defensive discipline. Their help rotations were sharp, they contested shots without fouling excessively, and they forced Berazategui into low-percentage attempts late in the shot clock. On offense, the hosts prioritized ball movement, generating assisted baskets and keeping everyone involved rather than relying on isolation play.

Berazategui's best stretches came when they pushed the pace and attacked the rim before the defense could set. Their guards created penetration and kicked out to open shooters, and their offensive rebounding generated extra possessions. The issue was consistency — Berazategui's scoring came in bursts rather than sustained runs, and each time they threatened, Unión Florida had an answer.

Standout Performers

Unión Florida's interior players set the tone on both ends, scoring efficiently around the basket and controlling the defensive glass. The backcourt managed the game well, limiting turnovers in the fourth quarter and converting key free throws. For Berazategui, the guard play was a bright spot, creating offense off the dribble and keeping the visitors within striking distance until the final minutes.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Unión Florida's position in the Argentina Women's LLF standings and reinforces their home-court advantage — a factor that becomes increasingly important as the season progresses and playoff seeding comes into focus. Protecting home games against direct rivals is often the difference between a favorable bracket and a difficult road path.

Berazategui leave with a competitive performance but no points to show for it. The visitors showed they can compete with the league's stronger sides, and their rebounding and transition play offer a foundation to build on. Converting those promising stretches into full 40-minute performances will be the priority in the coming fixtures.
