Match Overview

The contest was everything a Liga Femenina de Básquetbol (LLF) fixture should be: physical, fast, and decided in the dying seconds. El Talar (W) built their win on balanced scoring and a determined rebounding effort, while Ferrocarril Oeste Women countered with perimeter shooting and aggressive transition play that kept the deficit within reach throughout.

• Final score: El Talar (W) 71 – 70 Ferrocarril Oeste Women
• Competition: Argentina Women's LLF
• Result type: One-point home win decided in the final minute

How the Game Unfolded

El Talar started with intent, pushing the tempo early and attacking the paint to force Ferro into foul trouble. The hosts' interior play opened up kick-out opportunities on the perimeter, and they carried a narrow advantage into the first break. Ferrocarril Oeste responded in the second quarter, tightening their half-court defense and converting turnovers into quick points on the break to claw the game back level.

The third quarter belonged to momentum swings. Ferro's guards found rhythm from beyond the arc, briefly taking the lead and silencing the home crowd, but El Talar answered with a patient half-court set that generated second-chance points off the offensive boards. By the end of the period, the margin was back to a single possession — a sign of the nail-biter still to come.

Key Moments

The final five minutes produced the kind of basketball that defines a season. Trailing by a basket, Ferrocarril Oeste Women manufactured a steal and converted it into an and-one opportunity to level the score. El Talar responded immediately with a mid-range jumper to retake the lead, then forced a contested, off-balance attempt on the other end.

With the clock winding down, Ferro had one last look to steal the win, but El Talar's help defense rotated in time, contesting the shot without fouling. The rebound was secured, the buzzer sounded, and the hosts escaped with a 71-70 result that felt far bigger than a single regular-season game.

Tactical Story

El Talar's game plan leaned on interior presence and rebounding control. By winning the battle on the boards, they limited Ferro's second-chance opportunities and forced the visitors into longer, lower-percentage possessions. Their half-court offense ran through high ball screens designed to pull Ferro's bigs away from the rim, creating driving lanes and open corner threes.

Ferrocarril Oeste Women, meanwhile, thrived in the open floor. Their best stretches came when they turned defense into instant offense, using quick outlet passes and wing runners to beat El Talar down the court. The problem was consistency: whenever the tempo slowed, Ferro struggled to generate clean looks against a set defense, and that half-court friction ultimately cost them the one point that separated the teams.

Standout Performances

• El Talar (W) frontcourt: Dominant on the glass and efficient around the rim, providing the steady interior scoring that anchored the win.
• El Talar (W) backcourt: Controlled tempo in the closing minutes and hit the shots that mattered most, including the go-ahead basket down the stretch.
• Ferrocarril Oeste Women guards: Sparked the comeback with timely three-point shooting and transition baskets, keeping the visitors within striking distance until the final whistle.
• Ferro's defensive effort: Forced turnovers and disrupted El Talar's rhythm for long stretches, nearly stealing a road win.

Season Impact

Results like this carry real weight in the LLF standings. A one-point win keeps El Talar (W) moving in the right direction, building confidence in close-game situations that often decide playoff seeding. For Ferrocarril Oeste Women, the loss stings, but the performance shows a team capable of competing with anyone in the league — a narrow road defeat against a strong opponent is the kind of result that can sharpen a squad for the second half of the campaign.

With the head-to-head now favoring El Talar, any future meeting between these two sides takes on added significance, particularly if they end up jostling for the same playoff position. If this game is any ind
