Deportivo Norte produced one of their most convincing road performances of the Argentina Liga Nacional season on Saturday, dismantling Regatas de San Nicolás 72–54 in a game that was decided long before the final buzzer. The visitors controlled the tempo from the opening quarter, punished Regatas on the fast break and never allowed the home side to find any consistent rhythm offensively.

Match Overview

The final scoreline of 72–54 tells the story of a game built on defensive discipline. Deportivo Norte held Regatas to just 54 points, one of the lowest totals any visiting team has conceded this campaign, and they did so without needing a single dominant individual scoring display. Instead, the points came in waves — a balanced attack that kept the home defence guessing all evening.

Regatas de San Nicolás, playing in front of their own supporters, struggled badly with shot selection early. Their half-court sets became static as Deportivo Norte switched aggressively on the perimeter and forced contested jumpers late in the shot clock. The deficit grew steadily rather than through one dramatic run, which made the home team's task all the more difficult to reverse.

Key Moments

• First-quarter tone-setter: Deportivo Norte opened with a flurry of transition baskets, forcing Regatas into an early timeout and establishing a lead they would never surrender.
• Second-quarter lockdown: The visitors limited Regatas to a single-digit quarter, breaking the game open before halftime.
• Third-quarter response: Regatas found brief life with a short scoring run to start the second half, but Deportivo Norte answered immediately with back-to-back three-pointers.
• Closing stretch: With the margin above fifteen entering the fourth, Deportivo Norte slowed the pace and drained the clock, finishing comfortably.

Tactical Story

The game was won in the defensive half. Deportivo Norte's help-side rotations were sharp, closing driving lanes and forcing Regatas into long, low-percentage attempts. On the boards, the visitors' second-chance points proved decisive — several offensive rebounds late in possessions turned would-be empty trips into points.

Offensively, Deportivo Norte played through their frontcourt and used the extra pass. Ball movement created open corner looks, and their efficiency from beyond the arc made Regatas pay for collapsing into the paint. Regatas, by contrast, relied on isolation play, and when those individual duels went unrewarded, their offensive structure fell apart.

Season Impact

This 18-point win adds valuable momentum to Deportivo Norte's Liga Nacional campaign, reinforcing their reputation as a tough, organised side capable of winning on the road. For Regatas de San Nicolás, the defeat is a reminder of the work needed on the offensive end, particularly in half-court execution and turnover control, as the season moves deeper into its schedule.
