How Regatas LDD built the win

Regatas LDD won the battle of the third quarter, which proved to be the decisive stretch. After trailing by only two at halftime, Lanus LDD hoped to use home momentum to push ahead, but Regatas responded with a series of patient possessions and second-chance points. Their ball movement forced Lanus into rotation mistakes, and the visitors converted enough open looks to keep the hosts at arm's length.

Defensively, Regatas LDD did a better job of containing dribble penetration in the second half. Lanus LDD found easier baskets early in the game but struggled to generate clean looks late, particularly when Regatas switched assignments and crowded the paint. The visitors also controlled the defensive glass in the closing minutes, limiting Lanus to one-shot possessions.

Key moments

The turning point arrived midway through the third quarter, when Regatas LDD put together a 9-2 run to stretch its lead. Lanus LDD briefly cut the deficit back to four points early in the fourth, but Regatas answered immediately with a corner three and a fast-break layup. That sequence took the air out of the home side's comeback attempt and forced Lanus to play catch-up basketball over the final five minutes.

Lanus LDD had one last push in the closing stretch, but missed free throws and a pair of contested three-point attempts prevented the game from turning into a one-possession finish. Regatas LDD protected the ball well in the final two minutes and made the necessary shots at the line to close out the 10-point win.

Standout performers

Regatas LDD received a strong all-around effort from guard Tomas Rios, who scored 18 points and added five assists. Nicolas Ferreyra contributed 15 points and nine rebounds, while Santiago Benitez gave the bench a lift with 14 points, including two important three-pointers in the second half.

For Lanus LDD, Joaquin Medina led the scoring with 17 points, and Mateo Alvarez added 14. Bruno Acosta finished with 11 points and seven rebounds, but Lanus could not find enough consistent offense around that trio in the fourth quarter.

What the result means

The victory gives Regatas LDD a valuable road result in the Argentina Liga Nacional and reinforces their ability to win with balanced scoring. For Lanus LDD, the loss is a reminder that small margins matter: a few empty possessions in the third quarter turned a tight game into a deficit that proved difficult to erase. Lanus will need to improve their late-game execution and defensive rebounding in their next outing.
