Instituto LDD set the tone early with a patient half-court attack, then survived a third-quarter surge from Lanús LDD before pulling away again in the final period. • Final score: Instituto LDD 80, Lanús LDD 74
• Quarter-by-quarter: 19-16, 22-18, 17-23, 22-17

Key Moments

Instituto built a seven-point halftime cushion behind efficient shot selection and second-chance points. Lanús LDD responded after the break with a more aggressive defensive approach, forcing turnovers and attacking the rim to erase most of the deficit. By the end of the third, Instituto’s lead had been trimmed to a single point.

The fourth quarter turned on a short Instituto run midway through the period. A pair of transition baskets and a timely three-pointer stretched the advantage back to two possessions, and Lanús LDD was never able to fully recover. Instituto’s late free-throw shooting sealed the result.

Tactical Story

Instituto LDD’s offense was at its best when the ball moved through the high post and into the corners. That approach created open catch-and-shoot looks and kept Lanús LDD’s help defense guessing. Defensively, Instituto protected the paint well in the first half, but Lanús adjusted by using ball screens to create driving lanes after halftime.

Lanús LDD’s comeback was built on pressure and pace. The visitors forced several live-ball turnovers and turned them into quick points, briefly flipping the momentum. In the end, Instituto’s half-court discipline and rebounding edge in the closing minutes made the difference.

Standout Players

Instituto guard Tomás Aguirre led the way with 21 points and seven assists, repeatedly finding the right balance between scoring and playmaking. Forward Mateo Soria added 18 points and 11 rebounds, giving Instituto a reliable interior presence on both ends. Lanús LDD was paced by Lautaro Benítez, whose 22 points kept the visitors within striking distance until the final minutes.

What the Result Means

The win gives Instituto LDD a valuable early-season result in the Liga Nacional development table and reinforces its ability to close out tight games. For Lanús LDD, the loss is a useful learning moment: the comeback showed resilience, but the late execution and rebounding margin left room for improvement. Both sides will take clear lessons into their next fixtures.
