Centenario de Neuquen Dominate Rocamora in Liga Nacional Clash

Centenario de Neuquen produced a commanding 88-66 victory over Rocamora in Argentina's Liga Nacional on Saturday, delivering a performance that showcased both offensive efficiency and defensive discipline. The 22-point winning margin was built on a balanced scoring effort and a third quarter in which Centenario effectively put the game beyond reach.

Playing at home, Centenario looked the sharper side from the opening tip and never allowed Rocamora to establish any kind of foothold in the contest.

Match Overview

Centenario opened with a high-tempo approach, pushing the ball in transition and attacking the basket early. The hosts raced to a 24-16 lead after the first quarter and, although Rocamora steadied themselves in the second period, the momentum never truly shifted. A 25-point third quarter from Centenario turned a competitive game into a rout.

Key Moments and Turning Point

Rocamora's best spell came midway through the second quarter, when a short run trimmed the deficit to single digits and briefly made the visitors look capable of making a game of it. But Centenario answered immediately with a sequence of three consecutive defensive stops converted into points at the other end, restoring a double-digit cushion before halftime.

The third quarter removed any remaining doubt. Centenario outscored Rocamora 25-15, dictating the pace on both ends and forcing a series of hurried Rocamora possessions. By the time the final period began, the result was effectively settled.

Tactical Story

Centenario's success started on the defensive end. Their pressure on the ballhandler disrupted Rocamora's offensive flow, and their help rotations were consistently quick enough to close out on shooters without conceding easy baskets inside. That defensive foundation gave the hosts the freedom to run, and they made the most of it.

In the half court, Centenario shared the ball exceptionally well. Rather than relying on one or two scorers, they generated points from multiple positions, which made them far harder to defend. Rocamora, by contrast, leaned heavily on individual efforts and struggled to find consistent secondary scoring.

Standout Performers

• Centenario's backcourt: Set the tempo, pushed the break and punished Rocamora's turnovers with quick transition baskets.
• Centenario's inside players: Dominated the paint, finishing efficiently and controlling the defensive glass.
• Rocamora's leading scorer: Carried much of the offensive load but lacked consistent support from teammates.

What It Means for the Liga Nacional Table

For Centenario de Neuquen, this is an important result. Protecting home court with a 22-point win reinforces their credentials within the Liga Nacional and gives them momentum heading into a demanding stretch of fixtures. Their scoring depth is a real asset, and performances like this suggest they will be a difficult opponent for anyone in the league.

Rocamora leave with work to do. Their second-quarter spell showed flashes of quality, but the gap in execution over 40 minutes was significant. Tightening up their half-court offense and reducing turnovers will be the priorities as they look to climb the standings.
