USM Blida produced a controlled road performance to beat Rouiba CB 62-50 in the Algeria Super Division, grinding out a double-digit victory built on defensive discipline and efficient half-court offense. In a game that never quite became a shootout, the visitors' ability to string together stops proved decisive.

Match Overview

Rouiba CB went into the fixture hoping to use home advantage to dictate the tempo, but the hosts struggled to find rhythm against a compact and well-organised USM Blida defense. Blida's game plan was clear from the opening tip: pack the paint, contest every shot, and force Rouiba into difficult, low-percentage attempts.

• Final score: Rouiba CB 50 – 62 USM Blida
• Competition: Algeria Super Division (basketball)
• Result: USM Blida win away by 12 points
• Deciding factor: Defensive stops and a decisive scoring run in the third quarter

How the Game Unfolded

The first quarter was a cagey affair, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to establish a meaningful cushion. Rouiba's offense looked most dangerous when their guards attacked off the dribble, but the visitors adjusted quickly, closing driving lanes and forcing kick-out passes that led to rushed perimeter shots.

USM Blida edged ahead before halftime thanks to better shot selection and a stronger presence on the defensive boards. Limiting Rouiba to just 50 points tells the story of the night: this was a defensive win, earned through discipline rather than individual brilliance.

The third quarter proved the decisive stretch. Blida opened the period with a sustained run, converting turnovers into transition points and stretching their lead into double figures. Rouiba responded with brief bursts of scoring, but each time they threatened to close the gap, Blida answered with a composed possession at the other end.

Key Moments

The game's momentum swung firmly in Blida's favour during that third-quarter surge. Their defensive pressure forced a series of hurried Rouiba possessions, and the visitors capitalised at the other end with patient ball movement that created open looks inside and out.

Rouiba's best spell came early in the fourth, when a short scoring run trimmed the deficit and briefly raised hopes of a comeback. But Blida's composure at the free-throw line and their continued work on the glass snuffed out the rally before it gathered real momentum.

Standout Performances

USM Blida's forwards set the tone, controlling the rebounding battle at both ends and providing a reliable interior scoring option when the offense needed a basket. Their guards managed the game smartly, limiting turnovers and making good decisions in the half court.

For Rouiba CB, the individual effort was there but the collective execution was not. Their leading scorers worked hard to create shots, yet the team's shooting percentage suffered against a defense that consistently forced them into contested attempts.

Season Impact

A 12-point road win is a statement result in any league, and USM Blida will take confidence from a performance that showed both defensive identity and offensive patience. For Rouiba CB, the priority will be addressing how easily their offense stalled when the pace of the game slowed — a problem that must be solved if they are to climb the standings.

With the season still taking shape, Blida's ability to win away from home could prove the foundation of a strong campaign, while Rouiba will be aiming to turn home fixtures into points in their upcoming matchups.
