PS El Eulma held their nerve to defeat ASS Oum Bouaghi 59-58 in a tense Algeria Super Division encounter on October 30, 2026. In a game defined by defense and fine margins, the hosts made the final stop and the decisive basket to claim a one-point victory.

Match Overview

ASS Oum Bouaghi started the stronger side, edging the first quarter 16-14 and maintaining a narrow advantage for much of the first half. PS El Eulma responded in the second period, using a patient half-court attack to take a 29-28 lead into the break. Neither team could establish a double-digit cushion, and every possession felt significant.

The third quarter belonged to Oum Bouaghi, who outscored the hosts 17-13 to take a 45-42 lead into the final period. The visitors appeared to have the momentum, but El Eulma dug in defensively and forced a series of contested shots. The hosts then produced a late 7-0 run to reclaim the lead, eventually holding on for a 59-58 win. The quarter scores were 14-16, 15-12, 13-17 and 17-13.

Key Moments

With just over two minutes remaining and Oum Bouaghi leading by two, El Eulma’s defense came up with a crucial steal. The hosts converted it into a fast-break basket to level the score, then took the lead on a well-executed pick-and-roll. Oum Bouaghi had a final possession to win the game, but El Eulma’s help defense forced a tough fadeaway that missed at the buzzer.

The game’s turning point arguably came earlier in the fourth quarter, when El Eulma’s bench provided a spark with back-to-back defensive stops. Those stops allowed the hosts to stay within striking distance before the late surge.

Tactical Story

This was a classic defensive battle. Both teams packed the paint and forced each other into perimeter shots, leading to a low-scoring contest. PS El Eulma’s zone defense frustrated Oum Bouaghi for long stretches, while the visitors’ man-to-man pressure caused problems for the hosts in the third quarter.

The difference came on the glass and at the free-throw line. El Eulma grabbed several crucial offensive rebounds in the final period and made enough free throws to stay ahead. Oum Bouaghi, by contrast, missed key free throws down the stretch and could not convert their final possession.

Standout Performers

El Eulma’s forward was instrumental in the fourth quarter, scoring in the paint and protecting the rim on the other end. The team’s point guard controlled the tempo and made smart decisions in the closing minutes. For Oum Bouaghi, the shooting guard kept the visitors in front for much of the game with timely perimeter baskets and aggressive drives.

Both teams received important minutes from their benches, but El Eulma’s reserves made the more decisive contributions in the final quarter.

Season Impact

The one-point win is a valuable result for PS El Eulma in the Algeria Super Division table, especially against a direct competitor. It reinforces their ability to win tight games and could prove crucial in the final standings. ASS Oum Bouaghi will be disappointed to lose after leading in the fourth quarter, but their performance showed they can compete on the road. The teams will likely remember this game when the return fixture arrives.
