Jolly JBS Sibenik (W) delivered a statement performance in the Adriatic Women's Basketball League on Tuesday, dismantling Rilski Sportist (W) 85-63 in a game they controlled from the opening tip. The twenty-two point victory was built on suffocating defence, efficient transition scoring and a dominant second half that left the visitors with no route back into the contest.

Match Overview

Sibenik set the tone immediately, using aggressive perimeter defence to force early turnovers and converting them into easy baskets at the other end. A 24-14 first quarter established a lead they would never relinquish, and by halftime the advantage had grown to 44-31.

The third quarter proved decisive. Sibenik outscored Rilski Sportist 22-16 to push the lead past twenty, and although the Bulgarian side continued to compete, the outcome was never seriously in doubt over the final ten minutes.

Key Moments

The defining passage of play arrived during a four-minute stretch in the second quarter, when Sibenik held Rilski Sportist scoreless while adding eight unanswered points. That run forced an early timeout from the visitors and highlighted the gap in defensive intensity between the two teams.

Early in the third quarter, back-to-back three-pointers from the wings pushed the lead beyond twenty and effectively ended the contest as a competitive fixture, allowing Sibenik's coaching staff to rotate their bench more freely.

Tactical Story

Sibenik's defensive game plan was clear and executed ruthlessly. They pushed up on Rilski Sportist's ball handlers, disrupted entry passes into the post and forced a high number of contested jump shots late in the shot clock. The result was a low shooting percentage for the visitors and a steady stream of defensive rebounds that fuelled Sibenik's fast break.

Offensively, the Croatian side showed excellent ball movement, finishing with a healthy number of assists and punishing every double-team with quick reversal passes. Their ability to score both inside and from the perimeter made them extremely difficult to defend.

Standout Performers

Sibenik's leading scorer produced a complete all-round display, contributing heavily on both ends of the floor and setting the tempo during the decisive second-quarter run. Their frontcourt players were equally impressive on the glass, denying Rilski Sportist second-chance opportunities throughout.

For Rilski Sportist, the effort of their guards in breaking down the press late in the game was commendable, and their young rotation players gained valuable experience against top-level regional opposition.

Season Impact

The win reinforces Jolly JBS Sibenik's credentials as a genuine contender in the Adriatic Women's Basketball League and underlines the strength of Croatian women's basketball in the regional competition. Their scoring balance and defensive discipline make them a difficult opponent for any side in the league.

Rilski Sportist will return home to regroup, with a focus on handling pressure defence and improving shot quality in half-court sets as the season progresses.
