Budowlani Łódź Women delivered a composed road performance to defeat Opole Women 3-1 in the TAURON Liga Women on 19 October 2026, winning 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 25-20 in a match that was closer than the final scoreline suggests.

Match overview

The early-season TAURON Liga Women fixture gave both sides a chance to measure their form, and it was Budowlani Łódź who left with the stronger statement. Opole Women began with energy from the home crowd, but the visitors gradually imposed their serving and blocking game, especially after a difficult second set.

Budowlani took a tight opening set 25-22, only for Opole to respond strongly in the second with a 25-19 success. The third set proved decisive: with the score level at 23-23, Budowlani won the next two points to edge ahead 2-1, and they carried that momentum into a controlled fourth-set finish.

Key moments

• First set: Budowlani edged a close opener behind steady side-out volleyball and a late block that broke Opole’s rhythm at 22-22.
• Second set: Opole Women responded with their best stretch of the match, using aggressive serving to disrupt Budowlani’s reception and build a lead they never surrendered.
• Third set: The turning point came at 23-23. Budowlani’s opposite hitter found the line from the right side, and a defensive touch at the net created the transition point that sealed the set.
• Fourth set: Budowlani jumped ahead early and kept Opole at arm’s length, closing the match with a service winner and a roof block that capped a strong road display.

Tactical story

Budowlani Łódź’s victory was built on serve pressure and disciplined block defence. The visitors targeted Opole’s left-side reception, forcing the home team into predictable attacking patterns. That allowed Budowlani’s middle blockers to stay involved at the net and turn several rallies into counter-attacking points.

Opole Women had their moments, particularly in the second set, when their serve-and-block game clicked. But consistency was the issue. Too often, Opole’s out-of-system attacks were met by a well-positioned Budowlani defence, and the home side struggled to sustain momentum after the third-set heartbreak.

Standout players

Budowlani Łódź’s Anna Zielińska was the match’s standout performer, finishing with 22 points and delivering several crucial swings in the tight third set. Outside hitter Katarzyna Wójcik added 18 points and was reliable in reception, while middle blocker Magdalena Lis contributed five blocks that changed the shape of rallies.

For Opole Women, Julia Nowak led the scoring with 19 points and kept the home side competitive with a series of sharp attacks from the left. Libero Aleksandra Duda also produced a number of impressive defensive plays, but Opole could not convert enough of those chances into set-winning runs.

Key stats and what the result means

• Final score: Opole Women 1-3 Budowlani Łódź Women
• Set scores: 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 20-25
• Top scorer: Anna Zielińska (Budowlani Łódź) – 22 points
• Decisive phase: Budowlani’s late surge at 23-23 in the third set

The result gives Budowlani Łódź an important early-season road win and strengthens their position in the TAURON Liga Women standings. Opole Women, meanwhile, are left to reflect on a match in which they matched the visitors for long spells but lacked the closing edge in the key moments. The head-to-head now adds another useful reference point as both teams continue their league campaigns.

Looking ahead

Budowlani Łódź will look to carry the momentum of this 3-1 win into their next TAURON Liga Women fixture, with their serving and block defence shaping up as key strengths. Opole Women will focus on improving their reception consistency and their ability to close tight sets, starting with their next home opportunity to respond.
