Set-by-Set Story

First set (25–23 Bydgoszcz): A tense, point-for-point opener. Neither side could establish more than a two-point cushion, and the home team's composure at 23–23 — a sharp serve followed by a converted transition ball — gave them the early advantage.

Second set (25–22 Bielsko-Biała): The response came quickly. Bielsko-Biała raised their serving intensity and forced Bydgoszcz into a series of uncomfortable first contacts. A mid-set run of four straight points created the decisive gap, and the visitors levelled the match.

Third set (25–20 Bydgoszcz): Back came the hosts, producing arguably their best volleyball of the night. Their blocking unit read the opposition attack superbly, producing multiple stuff blocks that lifted the crowd. Bydgoszcz led comfortably for most of the set and restored their lead in the match.

Fourth set (25–19 Bielsko-Biała): Facing elimination, the visitors responded with authority. A dominant start — 8–3 — put Bydgoszcz on the back foot immediately, and Bielsko-Biała never allowed the gap to close, forcing a tie-break with their most complete set of the evening.

Tie-break (15–12 Bielsko-Biała): The fifth set was everything a decider should be. Bydgoszcz led 6–4, but Bielsko-Biała fought back to level at 8–8. From there, the visitors won the crucial long rallies, and at 13–12 a block followed by a service winner sealed a memorable victory.

Key Moments

The five-point swing from 4–6 to 9–6 does not appear in the scoreline, but Bielsko-Biała's ability to win three consecutive extended rallies in the middle of the tie-break was the defining passage of the match. Bydgoszcz, who had defended so well in the third set, could not reproduce that intensity when it mattered most.

Standout Performances

Bielsko-Biała's opposite hitter delivered a heavy scoring load across all five sets, and their setter's decision-making in the tie-break — mixing quick middle attacks with high balls to the wings — was outstanding. Bydgoszcz's middle blockers were excellent through three sets, and their libero produced several spectacular digs, but the team's attacking efficiency dropped sharply in the fourth and fifth.

What It Means

TAURON Liga Women points are precious, and this win gives Bielsko-Biała a valuable road result against direct rivals in the playoff race. For Bydgoszcz, there is encouragement in the performance but frustration in the outcome — losing a five-setter at home is a painful way to drop a point. Both clubs remain firmly in the mix as the Polish season gathers pace.
