ŁKS Łódź Women claimed bragging rights in the Łódź derby with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Budowlani Łódź Women in the TAURON Liga Women on October 10, 2026. The away side recovered from a first-set setback to dominate the remainder of the match, securing a valuable three points and extending their strong start to the season.

Match Overview

Played in front of a passionate home crowd at Budowlani’s hall, the match lived up to the intensity of a local rivalry. Budowlani Łódź started brightly, feeding off the energy of their supporters, but ŁKS Łódź gradually imposed their will at the net and from the service line. The visitors’ balanced attack and disciplined blocking proved too much to handle over four sets, as they clinched a 3-1 win (22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-18).

Both teams entered the contest looking to establish momentum in the early stages of the TAURON Liga Women campaign. For ŁKS, the victory reinforces their playoff ambitions, while Budowlani are left to regroup after a promising opening set slipped away.

Set-by-Set Breakdown

• Set 1 – Budowlani 25-22: The hosts came out firing, with their outside hitters finding gaps in the ŁKS block. A late serving run gave Budowlani the cushion they needed to take the opener.
• Set 2 – ŁKS 25-23: The visitors tightened their defense and began winning the long rallies. Trailing 18-16, ŁKS reeled off five straight points, capped by a decisive block, to level the match.
• Set 3 – ŁKS 25-20: ŁKS carried the momentum into the third, jumping to an early 8-3 lead behind aggressive serving. Budowlani struggled with reception, and the visitors never looked back.
• Set 4 – ŁKS 25-18: The final set was one-way traffic. ŁKS dominated at the net, registering four blocks in the set, and closed out the match with a powerful spike from the right side.

Key Moments and Turning Points

The turning point arrived in the second set. After dropping the first, ŁKS found themselves down 18-16 and risked falling into a two-set hole. A timeout from head coach stabilized the team, and a series of strong serves from the opposite hitter disrupted Budowlani’s rhythm. The visitors won nine of the next 12 points to steal the set and swing the match’s momentum permanently.

Another critical moment came early in the third set when ŁKS’s middle blocker produced back-to-back blocks, forcing Budowlani into predictable attacking patterns. The home side never recovered their first-set fluency, and ŁKS cruised from there.

Tactical Analysis

ŁKS Łódź won this match with superior serving and blocking. They finished with 9 service aces and 12 blocks, compared to Budowlani’s 4 aces and 7 blocks. The visitors also held a clear edge in attack efficiency, hitting 48% as a team versus 41% for the hosts.

Budowlani’s reception struggled once ŁKS began targeting the seams between the outside hitters and libero. That forced Budowlani into predictable high-ball sets, which ŁKS’s tall middle blockers eagerly awaited. In contrast, ŁKS’s setter distributed the ball effectively, keeping all attackers involved and preventing Budowlani from loading up on any single hitter.

Standout Performers

For ŁKS Łódź, opposite hitter Marta Nowak was the standout, finishing with a match-high 22 points (18 kills, 3 aces, 1 block). Her serving run in the second set changed the complexion of the match. Middle blocker Katarzyna Ziółkowska added 14 points, including 5 blocks, while outside hitter Aleksandra Wójcik chipped in 13 points and was reliable in reception.

Budowlani Łódź were led by outside hitter Natalia Kaczmarek, who scored 18 points but struggled with efficiency in the later sets. Middle blocker Julia Mazur contributed 10 points and 3 blocks, but the team’s offensive output dropped sharply after the first set.

Standings and Season Impact

The win lifts ŁKS Łódź to 9 points from their opening four matches, keeping them in the upper half of the TAURON Liga Women standings. Budowlani remain on 6 points and will need to address their consistency issues quickly in a competitive league where every point matters.

This derby result also gives ŁKS the early edge in the head-to-head record between the two sides this season. With the return fixture scheduled for later in the campaign, Budowlani will have a chance for revenge, but for now, the bragging rights belong firmly to ŁKS Łódź.
