Las Palmas Women delivered a dominant away performance to beat Santa Cruz Women 3-0 in the Superliga Women on 25 October 2026. The visitors won 18-25, 21-25 and 19-25, controlling each set through aggressive serving, solid blocking and a consistent attacking rhythm.

Match overview

Las Palmas Women never allowed Santa Cruz to settle. The first set set the pattern: Las Palmas applied pressure from the service line, forced Santa Cruz into uncomfortable attacks and built a lead that they protected comfortably. Santa Cruz improved in the second set and stayed within touching distance for long periods, but Las Palmas found another gear late in the set. The third followed a similar story, with the visitors pulling away in the closing stages.

Key moments

Santa Cruz’s best chance came in the second set, when they matched Las Palmas point for point through the middle section. At 18-18, the match briefly looked like it might turn into a longer contest. Instead, Las Palmas produced a decisive run: a service ace, a block and a transition kill opened a gap that Santa Cruz could not close. From there, the visitors managed the match expertly and closed out the third set without panic.

Tactical story

Las Palmas won the tactical battle at the service line. Their serves consistently disrupted Santa Cruz’s first pass, limiting the home side’s ability to use the middle and forcing more predictable attacks to the wings. Las Palmas’ block then adjusted well, taking away angles and giving their defence a clearer picture of where to position. Santa Cruz had moments of quality, particularly when their captain found space from the back row, but they could not sustain the pressure needed to shift the momentum.

Standout performers

Las Palmas’ outside hitters were reliable in every set, and their setter kept the offence varied even as the match became more physical. The team’s middle blocker also made a strong impact with timely blocks. For Santa Cruz, the libero worked hard to keep the ball alive and the opposite hitter produced some bright moments, but the home side lacked the serving punch to trouble Las Palmas consistently.

What it means

The 3-0 win is a clear statement from Las Palmas Women and a valuable three points on the road. It also underlines the importance of serve and reception in the Superliga Women: when Las Palmas controlled the first contact, they controlled the match. Santa Cruz will need to review their reception patterns and find more ways to relieve pressure on their attackers before the next round.
