VNAU Win Five-Set Thriller Against Novator Khmelnitsky

VNAU edged Novator Khmelnitsky 3-2 in a dramatic Superleague encounter on October 24, 2026, turning a tense back-and-forth contest into a valuable home victory. The match swung repeatedly, but VNAU held their nerve in the deciding set to close out a 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-12 win.

It was a result that reflected both teams’ strengths: VNAU’s attacking depth and home-court energy against Novator’s resilience and ability to extend rallies. The five-set format produced the kind of match that can define early-season momentum.

Momentum Swings in the Opening Sets

VNAU started brightly, using a strong serve-receive rhythm to keep Novator’s block guessing. Their first-set 25-22 win came on the back of efficient wing attacking and a few timely blocks in the closing points. Novator responded well in the second, tightening their defense and forcing VNAU into longer attacks. The visitors took the second 25-23 after edging a tight finish.

The third set belonged to VNAU again. They raised their serving intensity and found success through the middle, opening a cushion that Novator could not close. At 25-20, the home side looked in control, but Novator had other ideas.

Novator Force a Decider

Novator produced their best volleyball of the match in the fourth set. Their block began to connect, and their back-row defense kept several rallies alive. VNAU’s attack became more predictable under pressure, and Novator took advantage to win 25-22 and send the match into a fifth set.

The decider was tight early, with both teams trading side-outs. VNAU found separation at the net through a crucial block and a transition kill, moving ahead 10-7. Novator refused to fold, but VNAU’s serving down the stretch limited the visitors’ options. A final attack landed inside the court to complete the 15-12 win and spark celebrations from the home bench.

Key Factors Behind the Result

• VNAU’s serving in the fifth set: The home side kept the pressure on when it mattered most.
• Novator’s block: It kept them in the match and helped force a decider, but it could not deliver the final push.
• Transition play: VNAU converted more of their defensive chances into points in the closing stages.
• Depth: VNAU’s substitutions gave them fresh legs for the fifth-set sprint.

What the Result Means

The five-set victory gives VNAU two points, while Novator take one from the match. More importantly, VNAU showed they can win a pressure-filled contest after surrendering momentum in the fourth set. That kind of resilience is valuable in a Superleague season where tight matches often decide the final standings.

Novator will take encouragement from their fightback and their ability to push the match to five sets on the road. They leave with a point and with proof that their block-defense system can trouble strong opponents. VNAU, however, will be the happier side after surviving a genuine test.
