Shahrdari Urmia delivered a composed road performance to defeat Rafsanjan 3-0 in their Super League volleyball match on October 21, 2026, at 20:30 local time. The visitors won the sets 25-21, 25-19 and 25-22, turning a competitive opening exchange into a controlled straight-sets victory.

Match overview

Rafsanjan had the first meaningful run of the match, using home-court energy and an aggressive service sequence to stay within touching distance early in set one. But Shahrdari Urmia absorbed that pressure, stabilized their reception line and began to impose their block. Once the visitors found rhythm in transition, the match tilted decisively in their favor.

Urmia’s 3-0 win was built on three connected strengths: disciplined serve-receive, a block that closed the sharp angles, and an opposite hitter who consistently bailed the team out in long rallies. Rafsanjan never stopped competing, especially in the third set, but they could not string together enough side-outs to extend the match.

Key moments

• Set one, 21-25: Rafsanjan stayed close through the middle of the set, but Urmia pulled away late with a short serving run and a pair of block touches that forced Rafsanjan into predictable swings.
• Set two, 19-25: The visitors took command early. A sharp run from the service line disrupted Rafsanjan’s first-tempo attack, and Urmia’s defense converted several transition chances into points.
• Set three, 22-25: Rafsanjan produced its best stretch of the night and briefly led, but Urmia responded with calm side-outs and a late block to close the door.

Tactical story

The match turned on Urmia’s ability to make Rafsanjan play from uncomfortable positions. By serving with depth and mixing pace, the visitors reduced the quality of Rafsanjan’s first contact and made the home side’s setter work harder in every rotation. That pressure showed up most clearly in the middle of each set, when Urmia built small leads and then protected them with steady transition play.

Rafsanjan’s best moments came when their outside hitters attacked with pace against a spread block. But Urmia adjusted quickly, tightening the block and using the libero to cover the short defense. In a sport where two or three points can change a set, Urmia’s ability to win the long rallies proved decisive.

Standout performers and table impact

Urmia’s opposite hitter was the most consistent attacking outlet on the floor, carrying the team through the tight patches in set one and set three. The middle blocker also made an impact with timely blocks, while the setter managed the tempo well as the match wore on. For Rafsanjan, the outside hitter and libero kept the team alive with effort plays, but the home side lacked the same efficiency at the end of sets.

The 3-0 result gives Shahrdari Urmia maximum benefit from the fixture and valuable momentum in the Super League standings. For Rafsanjan, the defeat is a reminder that close sets must be converted into points, especially at home. The head-to-head now favors Urmia in this matchup, and both teams will take clear lessons into their next volleyball fixtures.
