Politechnika Lublin Claim Super Cup with Straight-Sets Win over Zawiercie

Politechnika Lublin lifted the Super Cup on 25 October 2026 after a composed 3-0 victory over Zawiercie, winning 25-20, 25-22 and 25-23. The away side controlled the key moments of each set and denied Zawiercie a home celebration, adding another piece of silverware to their growing collection.

Zawiercie had hoped to use home advantage to impose themselves, but Lublin’s serving and blocking proved decisive. The Super Cup is often a test of early-season sharpness, and Lublin looked the more settled side throughout the contest.

Match Overview

The first set was competitive until the mid-point, when Lublin created separation with a series of strong serves and disciplined transition play. Zawiercie struggled to establish their middle attack and became reliant on outside swings that Lublin’s block was able to contain.

Zawiercie improved in the second set and led 16-14, but Lublin responded with a 5-0 run that changed the momentum. The third set was the tightest of the match, with both teams trading points deep into the 20s. Lublin stayed calm in the closing rallies and sealed the trophy with a well-placed serve that Zawiercie could not return.

Key Moments

The opening set was level at 10-10 before Lublin scored five of the next six points. A block from Marcin Kania and two aces from Kamil Kwasowski gave Lublin a lead they never surrendered. In the second set, Zawiercie’s 16-14 advantage was erased by a Lublin run built on aggressive serving and a crucial double block on the right side.

The third set featured several long rallies and a tense finish. At 22-22, Lublin won a marathon exchange through a back-row attack, then forced an error to reach match point. Zawiercie saved one chance, but Lublin closed it out at 25-23.

Tactical Story

Lublin’s game plan was clear: serve with pace and target Zawiercie’s reception line. The visitors’ float and jump-float serves kept Zawiercie out of system, limiting their ability to use the middle and forcing their outside hitters into difficult swings against a well-formed block.

Zawiercie tried to counter by increasing their serving risk, but the trade-off was too many errors. Lublin’s setter managed the offence intelligently, mixing outside sets with occasional middle attacks to keep Zawiercie guessing. Defensively, Lublin were excellent, with their libero and wing defenders covering the court well.

Standout Players

Kamil Kwasowski was Lublin’s standout performer with 20 points, including several crucial kills in the third set. Middle blocker Marcin Kania added five blocks and gave Lublin a strong presence at the net, while setter Piotr Nowak finished with 37 assists and controlled the tempo beautifully.

For Zawiercie, Karol Butryn led the scoring with 15 points, but he received limited support in transition. Zawiercie’s serving was inconsistent, and their block struggled to contain Lublin’s varied attack.

Trophy Context

The Super Cup adds another honour to Politechnika Lublin’s recent record and gives them an early psychological edge for the season ahead. For Zawiercie, the defeat is a setback but not a defining one; they will look to sharpen their reception and serving before the league campaign intensifies. Lublin, meanwhile, can enjoy a trophy-winning performance built on discipline, serve pressure and calm execution in the biggest moments.
