THY Women produced a composed road performance in the Sultanlar Ligi Women, defeating Aras Kargo Women 3-1 in a match played on 25 October 2026. The visitors dropped the second set but controlled the rest of the contest with superior serving, better transition play and a decisive edge at the net, taking all three points back to Istanbul.

Match Overview

The fixture pitted one of the league's established powers against a Aras Kargo side eager to prove itself in front of its own supporters. The Ankara-based hosts started brightly, matching THY point for point in the opening rallies, but the visitors' experience showed as the set wore on.

• Result: Aras Kargo Women 1-3 THY Women
• Set scores: 22-25, 25-22, 19-25, 21-25
• Competition: Sultanlar Ligi Women

The Story of the Match

THY took the first set 25-22 by tightening their block late on and forcing Aras Kargo into uncomfortable out-of-system attacks. The hosts responded exactly as their coach would have wanted, raising their serve pressure in the second set and levelling the match at 25-22 to bring the home crowd fully into the game.

That momentum, however, did not survive the interval. THY reestablished control at the service line in the third set, disrupting Aras Kargo's reception and building a lead they never surrendered, closing it out 25-19. The fourth set followed a similar pattern: the visitors led from the middle of the set and finished with authority at 25-21.

Tactical Breakdown

The difference came in two areas. First, THY's serve was far more aggressive in the third and fourth sets, pulling Aras Kargo's setter away from the middle of the court and limiting the hosts' options in attack. Second, the Istanbul side's block-defence coordination improved steadily, converting what had been scrappy rallies in the second set into transition points later in the match.

Aras Kargo will look back at their reception efficiency as the key issue. When their first contact held, they were competitive and even dominant at times; when it broke down, the team had no reliable route to score against a well-organised THY block.

Standout Performers

THY's opposite hitter carried a heavy attacking load and was the most consistent point-scorer across the four sets, while the visiting libero kept the back court calm during Aras Kargo's best spell in the second set. For the hosts, the outside hitters produced flashes of real quality, particularly in the set they won, but the team lacked a steady outlet once the momentum shifted.

Season Impact

Three points on the road keep THY in the upper part of the Sultanlar Ligi Women standings and reinforce their credentials as a side capable of challenging for a playoff place. For Aras Kargo, the defeat is a reminder of the margin that separates mid-table teams from the league's top half: the hosts were competitive for long stretches but could not sustain their level for four sets.

The result adds another chapter to a fixture that has become increasingly interesting in recent seasons, with THY's experience repeatedly proving decisive in head-to-head meetings.
