Match overview

The match followed a swing pattern that kept both benches engaged from the opening serve. Trentino took the first set 25-22, using a steady sideout game and a few well-timed blocks on the right side. Fasano answered in the second, 25-23, by tightening its reception and finding more rhythm in transition. Trentino regained the advantage with a 25-20 third set, but Fasano’s 25-21 fourth-set win forced the match into a deciding set, where the visitors held their nerve.

Key moments

The fourth set was the turning point. Trentino had chances to build a decisive lead after taking the third, but Fasano’s serve began to land deeper and pull the home reception line away from the net. That pressure created enough free balls for Fasano to run its middle attack and keep Trentino’s block guessing. In the fifth set, the teams traded points to 8-8 before Fasano created separation with a short scoring run built on a block and a transition kill. Trentino saved one match point with a brave backcourt defensive play, but Fasano closed it out on the next rally with a clean swing from the left pin.

Tactical story

Trentino’s best spells came when its setter involved the middle early and opened space for the pins. The home side looked balanced in the first and third sets, mixing tempo and using the libero well in serve receive. However, Fasano adjusted by serving more aggressively toward the seams and forcing Trentino into predictable outside sets. Fasano’s block also improved as the match went on, especially on the right side, where it slowed Trentino’s opposite hitter in the closing stages. The visitors were not dramatically better on attack, but they were more efficient in the decisive rallies.

Standout performers

Fasano’s opposite hitter was central to the comeback, carrying a heavy scoring load in the fourth and fifth sets and delivering several important kills under pressure. Fasano’s middle blocker also made a difference with timely blocks and quick attacks that stretched Trentino’s defense. For Trentino, the outside hitter produced a strong all-around match and the libero kept several rallies alive with impressive floor defense, but the home side lacked the same late-match efficiency that Fasano found in the deciding set.

Table impact and next steps

The win gives Fasano Women valuable momentum in the Serie A2 Women standings and reinforces their ability to win close matches on the road. For Trentino Women, the loss is a missed opportunity to convert a strong home performance into points, though the team showed enough quality to suggest it can respond quickly. Both sides will now turn to their next fixtures with different emotions: Fasano with renewed confidence after a five-set victory, and Trentino with a clear focus on closing out tight matches more ruthlessly.
