• Set 2: Fasano 22-25 Club Italia

Key moments

The first set was tight throughout, with Fasano’s experience showing in the final rallies. Club Italia, however, did not allow the setback to affect their confidence. Their second-set response was built on aggressive serving and a more varied attack, which forced Fasano’s block to move and created openings at the pins.

The decisive momentum shift came in the fourth set. Trailing 2-1, Club Italia raised their defensive intensity and began to win the longer rallies. That pattern continued into the fifth, where the visitors established a narrow lead and protected it with calm side-outs and a couple of crucial blocks.

Tactical story

Club Italia’s serving strategy was important. They targeted Fasano’s outside hitters and made the home side’s first contact less comfortable, reducing the number of available middle attacks. Fasano still had success when their pass allowed them to play through the middle, but those moments became less frequent as the match progressed.

The visitors also improved their transition game set by set. In the early stages, Fasano’s block caused problems, but Club Italia’s hitters began to use the block more intelligently, tooling off hands and finding the deep corners. In the fifth set, that composure made the difference in a match where both teams had stretches of control.

Standout performers

Sara Conti led Club Italia’s attack with a series of important kills, especially in the fourth and fifth sets. Elena Moretti controlled the middle well and gave the team a strong presence at the net, while Chiara Fontana’s defensive work helped extend rallies in the closing stages. For Fasano, Martina Leone and Giulia Ricci carried much of the scoring load, but the home side could not find the same consistency in the final set.

Season impact

The win is a significant one for Club Italia W in the Serie A2 Women standings, demonstrating the team’s ability to compete in long matches against experienced opposition. For Fasano Women, the defeat will sting because they led 2-1 and had chances to close the match at home. The result adds another layer to the league’s head-to-head picture and underlines the importance of closing sets when momentum is in hand.
