Costa Volpino Women claimed a convincing Serie A2 Women home victory on 25 October 2026, sweeping Leonessa Altamura Women 3-0. The set scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-19 reflected a match in which the home side controlled the key phases and rarely allowed their opponents to build sustained momentum.

Match overview

Costa Volpino started strongly and set the tone with a dominant first set. Their serve pressure disrupted Altamura’s reception, and the home block was able to set up with greater clarity. The second set was more competitive for longer stretches, but Costa Volpino’s side-out efficiency kept them in front. The third set followed a similar pattern, with the hosts pulling away late to complete the sweep.

Altamura improved in patches, particularly when their outside attackers found space through the block, but they could not match Costa Volpino’s consistency across the full match.

Key moments

• Costa Volpino’s early serving run in the first set created the first significant gap of the match.
• Altamura stayed close in the second set, but a pair of transition kills helped the hosts regain control at a crucial stage.
• In the third set, Costa Volpino’s block produced consecutive stops that effectively ended Altamura’s comeback hopes.

Tactical story

The home side’s game plan was built around aggressive serving and disciplined floor defence. Costa Volpino kept Altamura out of system for long periods, which limited the visitors’ ability to involve their middle attackers. When Altamura did manage clean reception, Costa Volpino’s block adjusted well enough to slow down the attack and allow the defence to transition.

Costa Volpino also benefited from balanced scoring. Rather than relying on one dominant attacker, they spread the load across the pins and middle, making it harder for Altamura’s block to commit early. That balance was a major reason the match ended in straight sets.

Standout performers

Costa Volpino’s setter managed the offence well, varying tempo and distribution to keep Altamura guessing. Their middle blockers were influential at the net, while the outside hitters delivered important kills in transition. Altamura’s libero worked hard to extend rallies, but the visitors needed more from their serving and blocking phases to change the match’s direction.

Standings impact

The 3-0 win gives Costa Volpino Women a useful boost in the early Serie A2 Women standings and reinforces their home-court strength. For Leonessa Altamura Women, the defeat is a reminder that their reception and transition game must improve if they are to compete consistently in a demanding league. Costa Volpino will look to carry the same serving pressure into their next fixture, while Altamura will focus on resetting quickly.
