Kuanysh Women edged Zhetysu Women 3-2 in a dramatic National League Women encounter on 28 October 2026, producing a five-set match that swung repeatedly before the visitors secured the decisive points. The result gives Kuanysh an important away victory in the Kazakh women’s volleyball league, while Zhetysu are left to reflect on a match they led at times but could not close out.

Match Overview

The contest began with both teams trading early advantages, and the opening set set the tone for a night of long rallies and momentum shifts. Zhetysu Women, playing at home, used their block to establish an early edge, while Kuanysh Women responded with aggressive serving and a high-volume attack from the wings. The match eventually stretched to a fifth set, where Kuanysh’s composure under pressure proved decisive.

Kuanysh’s 3-2 win reflects their resilience in a hostile environment. Zhetysu’s two-set total came from strong stretches in the middle of the match, but Kuanysh consistently found answers in the clutch moments of the final set.

Set-by-Set Story

• First set: Zhetysu started strongly, using their home crowd and a disciplined block to take an early lead. Kuanysh fought back but could not fully close the gap.
• Second set: Kuanysh adjusted their serving strategy, targeting Zhetysu’s outside hitters and forcing less comfortable attacks. The visitors leveled the match with improved transition play.
• Third set: Zhetysu regained control through their middle attack, creating separation midway through the set and holding on to take a 2-1 lead.
• Fourth set: Facing the possibility of defeat, Kuanysh raised their defensive intensity. Their block began to connect, and their opposite hitter delivered key points to force a deciding set.
• Fifth set: The final set was a tense exchange of side-outs and counter-attacks. Kuanysh edged ahead late and secured the win with a composed finish.

Key Moments

The turning point arrived in the fourth set when Kuanysh saved a series of crucial points with a combination of blocking and back-court defense. That momentum carried into the fifth set, where Zhetysu struggled to side-out consistently against Kuanysh’s aggressive serve. A late service run from Kuanysh’s setter created the cushion they needed to close the match.

Tactical Story

Kuanysh Women’s victory was built on serve-receive pressure. By targeting Zhetysu’s left-side passers, they forced the home team into predictable attacking patterns. Kuanysh’s block then shifted to the wings, reducing Zhetysu’s efficiency in the clutch. Zhetysu’s middle attack was effective for stretches, but they were unable to sustain that advantage in the final set.

Zhetysu’s blocking and home-court energy kept them in the match, and their opposite hitter carried a heavy load. However, Kuanysh’s depth and composure in transition proved the difference in a match that lasted well beyond the two-hour mark.

Standout Players

Kuanysh’s opposite hitter was the standout performer, delivering crucial points in the fourth and fifth sets. Their libero also played a key role, stabilizing the back court during Zhetysu’s strongest runs. For Zhetysu, the middle blocker and setter combined well in the third set, but the team’s attacking rhythm faded in the final stages.

League Impact

The 3-2 victory gives Kuanysh Women valuable momentum in the National League Women standings. Away wins in five sets are often the kind of results that define a team’s season, and Kuanysh will hope to build on this performance. Zhetysu Women remain competitive, but they will need to improve their closing ability in tight matches as the league progresses.
