A 1-3 result in women's volleyball usually points to one team finding a higher, more repeatable level across the match — and that was the story here. Turan had their moments, particularly in a competitive opening set, but Zhetysu's consistency in attack and defence gradually wore the home side down.

How the Four Sets Unfolded

Set one was the tightest of the night, a back-and-forth affair in which both teams traded short runs of points. Turan's home support helped them stay in touch, and their block produced several important stops at the net. Zhetysu, however, stayed patient, kept their error count low and stole the set at the death to take an early advantage.

Turan responded well. The second set was their best passage of the match: better passing, quicker tempo through the middle and more variety on the wings. They levelled the match and gave themselves a platform.

From there, Zhetysu took over. The visitors raised their serving intensity, disrupted Turan's first contact and forced the home side into predictable attacking patterns. They won the third set with a clear margin, and although Turan pushed hard early in the fourth, Zhetysu's defence held firm and they closed out the match without needing a fifth set.

Key Moments

• End of set one: Zhetysu edged a tight opener, a psychological blow given how competitive the set had been.
• Second set: Turan's most complete volleyball of the match levelled the score at 1-1.
• Third set: A decisive serving run from Zhetysu broke the set open and restored their lead.
• Fourth set: Turan's late push was answered by composed Zhetysu side-out volleyball.

Tactical Story of the Match

Turan's game was at its best when their reception allowed the setter to use the middle. In the second set, quick attacks pulled Zhetysu's blockers inward and opened up space for the outside hitters. When that first contact dropped in quality, however, Turan's attack became predictable, and Zhetysu's block-readers took full advantage.

Zhetysu's approach was built on pressure from the service line and disciplined floor defence. Their servers consistently targeted the deep corners, keeping Turan's setter away from the net and limiting the home side's attacking options. In transition, Zhetysu were efficient: they converted a high proportion of the free balls and scramble situations that decide long rallies.

The visitors also managed the momentum of the match intelligently. After losing the second set, they did not panic or change their structure dramatically — they simply raised their execution level, cut down on unforced errors, and let the scoreboard pressure do the rest.

Standout Performers

For Turan Women, the outside hitters carried the bulk of the attacking load and were the primary reason the second set went their way. The middle blockers contributed important blocks in the early stages, and the libero produced several spectacular defensive plays that kept rallies alive. The team's challenge was sustaining that level once Zhetysu began serving more aggressively.

Zhetysu Women's win was founded on balance. Their setter distributed the ball across all attacking positions, making the offence difficult to defend, while the opposite hitter delivered the crucial points in the third and fourth sets. Defensively, the backcourt unit was outstanding, repeatedly extending rallies and converting defence into scoring opportunities.

What It Means for the National League Women Table

This is a significant away result for Zhetysu Women, who add three points in a league where road victories are hard to come by and every point matters in the race for playoff positioning. Their ability to win in four sets on an opponent's home court is the mark of a side that can be trusted in the second half of the season.

Turan Women, meanwhile, will be frustrated by the margin. They showed in the second set that they can compete with the best in the division, but the drop-off in the third and fourth sets is what separates narrow defeats
