Kuanysh Women vs Karaganda Women: Kuanysh Claim 3-1 National League Victory

Kuanysh Women secured a 3-1 home win over Karaganda Women in the National League Women on Saturday, October 3, 2026. After dropping a tight second set, Kuanysh reasserted their authority with a strong blocking performance and a balanced attack, taking the final two sets to close out an important league victory.

Match Overview

The match brought together two well-known Kazakh volleyball sides, and Kuanysh Women made the brighter start. Their serving and net defense gave them the first set, but Karaganda responded impressively in the second, raising their block and forcing Kuanysh into errors. The home side regrouped after the interval and dominated the decisive phases of the third and fourth sets.

Kuanysh’s ability to reset after losing the second set was the key to the result. They controlled the tempo in the latter half of the match, while Karaganda could not reproduce the defensive intensity that had briefly brought them level.

Set-by-Set

• First set: Kuanysh 25-20 — a 6-1 run early in the set gave the hosts a lead they never relinquished.
• Second set: Karaganda 25-22 — Karaganda improved their blocking and capitalised on Kuanysh’s attacking errors.
• Third set: Kuanysh 25-19 — an 8-2 start set the tone as Kuanysh regained control at the net.
• Fourth set: Kuanysh 25-21 — with the score tied at 15-15, Kuanysh pulled away through serving and transition kills.

Key Moments

The second set showed Karaganda’s potential. Their block began to time Kuanysh’s outside attack better, and their serve created enough disruption to keep the home side out of rhythm. But Kuanysh’s response in the third set was emphatic. A fast start, built on aggressive serving and quick middle attacks, restored their confidence.

The fourth set was the most competitive of the night. Karaganda stayed within touching distance until 15-15, but Kuanysh then produced a decisive run. Two blocks and a pair of powerful kills from the right side gave the hosts the separation they needed to finish the match.

Standout Performances

Kuanysh’s opposite hitter was the top scorer with 23 points, delivering in crucial moments and keeping the pressure on Karaganda’s defense. The middle blocker added five blocks and was a constant presence at the net. Kuanysh’s setter also deserved credit for varying the attack and involving the middles effectively.

For Karaganda Women, the outside hitter led the team with 16 points and fought hard throughout. Their libero made several important digs, especially in the second set, but Karaganda lacked the same offensive balance in the final two sets.

Tactical Story

Kuanysh won the match through superior serving and blocking. They targeted Karaganda’s passers with deep and short serves, disrupting the visitors’ preferred attacking patterns. At the net, Kuanysh’s block closed the angles and forced Karaganda into several difficult recovery shots.

Karaganda’s best tactical spell came in the second set when they served more aggressively and slowed Kuanysh’s transition game. However, they could not sustain that level, and Kuanysh’s ability to sideout consistently in the third and fourth sets proved decisive.

National League Women Table Impact

The 3-1 victory strengthens Kuanysh Women’s position in the National League Women standings and adds three important points to their campaign. Karaganda Women leave with a competitive performance but no points, having missed an opportunity to close the gap on the teams above them. Kuanysh will take confidence from their response after the second set, while Karaganda will focus on maintaining their blocking intensity for longer stretches.
