Ankara PTT Women earned a solid 2-0 victory over Muratpasa Women in the 1. Ligi Women on October 3, 2026. The straight-sets win (25-20, 25-22) at home gives Ankara PTT three valuable points and keeps them in the hunt for promotion, while Muratpasa Women leave empty-handed after a competitive but ultimately frustrating outing.

Match Overview

Ankara PTT Women entered the match with a clear objective: control the net and force Muratpasa into long rallies. They executed that plan efficiently, using a balanced attack and disciplined blocking to keep the visitors under constant pressure. Muratpasa Women showed flashes of quality, particularly in the second set, but they struggled to string together enough points to truly threaten the hosts. Ankara’s serve reception was steady throughout, allowing their setter to run a varied offense that kept Muratpasa’s blockers off balance.

Set-by-Set Summary

• First set (25-20): Ankara PTT started strong, taking a 10-6 lead behind two early aces from their opposite hitter. Muratpasa fought back to 18-17, but Ankara responded with a 4-0 run, sealed by a smart tip from the setter. The hosts closed the set on a block from the middle.
• Second set (25-22): Muratpasa came out with more aggression, taking a 12-9 lead and forcing Ankara into a timeout. The break worked wonders: Ankara returned with a 7-2 surge to retake the lead. The teams traded points until 22-22, when Ankara’s captain delivered two clutch kills and a service winner to end the match.

Tactical Analysis

Ankara PTT’s success was built on defensive consistency. Their libero, Elif Kaya, was outstanding in the backcourt, digging several hard-driven spikes and keeping rallies alive. At the net, Ankara’s middle blockers combined for 8 blocks, repeatedly shutting down Muratpasa’s attempts through the center. Muratpasa, meanwhile, relied heavily on their left-side hitter, who scored 14 points but also committed 6 attack errors. The visitors’ serve was not aggressive enough to disrupt Ankara’s passing, and their blocking timing was often a step behind.

Key Players

Ankara PTT’s opposite hitter Zeynep Demir led the team with 16 points, including 13 kills and 2 aces. Captain and outside hitter Selin Arslan added 12 points and provided leadership in the crucial moments of the second set. Setter Merve Yıldız distributed the ball brilliantly, finishing with 28 assists. For Muratpasa, middle blocker Ayşe Çelik was a bright spot with 9 points and 3 blocks, but the team’s overall efficiency fell short.

League Table and What’s Next

The 2-0 win lifts Ankara PTT Women further up the 1. Ligi Women standings, reinforcing their playoff ambitions. Muratpasa Women remain in a mid-table position and will need to improve their road form if they hope to climb. The two teams will meet again later in the season, and Muratpasa will be eager for revenge on home soil. For now, Ankara PTT can celebrate a professional, no-nonsense performance that delighted their home fans.

With the result, Ankara PTT Women continue to build momentum in the 1. Ligi Women, while Muratpasa Women must regroup quickly before their next fixture. The straight-sets victory is a testament to Ankara’s depth and tactical discipline, and it could prove pivotal in the race for promotion.
