Ankara BBSK W 0-3 Ankara PTT Women: PTT win capital derby in straight sets

Ankara PTT Women won the Ankara derby against Ankara BBSK W 3-0 in the Turkish Women’s 1. Ligi on October 21, 2026. The visitors took the match 25-19, 25-22, 25-20, using a balanced attack and a disciplined block to secure all three points.

Match overview

Ankara PTT started the stronger side and quickly established control in the first set. Ankara BBSK W improved in the second, pushing PTT deep into the frame, but the visitors’ experience in the closing points made the difference. The third set followed a similar pattern: BBSK stayed competitive for a stretch, but PTT pulled away late to complete the sweep.

The derby atmosphere added energy to the match, and both teams had loud support in the hall. PTT handled the occasion well, keeping their error count low and staying patient in rallies. BBSK, meanwhile, showed flashes of quality but lacked the consistency needed to sustain pressure over three sets.

Key moments

• First set: Ankara PTT broke away from 12-11 with a serving run and a pair of block touches, opening a lead they protected for a 25-19 win.
• Second set: BBSK led at 18-16 and had a chance to level the match, but PTT responded with a composed closing run to take it 25-22.
• Third set: The score was tight until the middle phase, when PTT’s block and transition attack created separation. The visitors closed it out 25-20.

Tactical story

Ankara PTT’s serving strategy was effective throughout. The visitors varied their targets and kept BBSK’s setter moving, which reduced the home side’s ability to use the middle attack. With BBSK pushed to the wings, PTT’s block could cheat toward the pins and force difficult angles. PTT also defended well at the floor, turning several strong BBSK attacks into counterattacking points.

BBSK’s best spells came when their reception allowed quick middle involvement and their outside hitters could attack against a single block. But the home side too often fell into predictable patterns and struggled to score when PTT extended rallies. In a match between two teams that know each other well, the visitors’ composure in key moments was the clearest difference.

Standout performers

Ankara PTT’s setter controlled the tempo well and made smart choices in the decisive moments, while the team’s middle blockers delivered important stops at the net. The opposite hitter provided a steady scoring threat from the right side. For Ankara BBSK W, the libero and captain kept the team fighting, but the home side needed more efficiency from the service line and more variety in attack.

Season impact

The straight-sets win gives Ankara PTT Women a valuable boost in the Turkish Women’s 1. Ligi standings and local bragging rights. For Ankara BBSK W, the defeat highlights the gap between competing in patches and sustaining a full-match performance. The club will need to improve its side-out consistency quickly, especially with the league table beginning to take shape.
