VK UP Olomouc Women claimed a strong road victory in the Czech 1. liga Women, beating Hradec Králové Women 3-1 on 10 October 2026. The visitors overcame a competitive opening set defeat to win three in a row, showing the sort of composure and attacking depth that makes them a difficult opponent away from home.

Match overview

Hradec Králové started the match with genuine intent. Backed by their home crowd, they served aggressively and found gaps in the Olomouc defence, taking the first set and putting the visitors under early pressure. It was exactly the kind of start the home side needed against a well-organised opponent.

Olomouc, representing Palacký University, responded in the manner of an experienced side. Their reception improved, their setter began finding the middle attack, and their block started to close down the lanes that had been open in the first set. From there the match tilted firmly in the visitors' favour.

Key moments

• Hradec Králové took a tight opening set, converting their opportunities at the net and winning the long rallies.
• Olomouc levelled the match in the second set, taking control with a decisive run from the service line.
• The third set proved the turning point, with the visitors edging a tense finish to take a 2-1 lead.
• Olomouc dominated the fourth set to complete a 3-1 victory and secure all three points.

Tactical story

The tactical shift was clear after the first set. Olomouc raised their serving pressure, which disrupted Hradec Králové's first contact and forced the home side into high-ball attacking against a well-formed block. With the middle attack working, Olomouc's wing hitters found far more room, and their side-out efficiency climbed sharply through the middle sets.

Hradec Králové's challenge was sustaining quality in transition. Their defensive effort remained commendable, but converting digs into points became increasingly difficult as the match progressed, and the visitors' block made the home attack work harder for every rally.

Standout performers

Olomouc's opposite delivered a consistent scoring performance across all four sets, while the middle blockers grew increasingly influential at the net as the match went on. For Hradec Králové, the outside hitters produced the team's best attacking moments in the opening set, and the libero kept the home side competitive with several outstanding defensive plays.

What it means for the table

The 3-1 win is an important away result for VK UP Olomouc Women in the 1. liga Women, keeping them firmly in the hunt at the upper end of the standings. Hradec Králové will be frustrated to have let a promising start slip, but the opening set showed they can compete with the division's stronger sides on home soil.
