TJ Sokol Dobrichcvice produced a clinical road performance on October 3, 2026, sweeping Ceske Budejovice 2 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-17) in a 1. liga volleyball clash. The victory earned the visitors a valuable three points and extended their strong run in the Czech second-tier competition, while the home reserve side was left to reflect on a night of missed opportunities.

Match Overview

Played at the Ceske Budejovice sports hall, the match pitted the youthful energy of the Budejovice reserves against the composed, structured play of TJ Sokol Dobrichcvice. From the first serve, the visitors imposed their rhythm, using aggressive serving and a well-organized block to keep the home team on the back foot. Budejovice 2 showed flashes of attacking flair, but they struggled to sustain momentum against a disciplined opponent that refused to give away easy points.

Key Moments

The opening set set the tone for the evening. Dobrichcvice raced to an 8-4 lead at the first technical timeout, capitalizing on three service aces from captain Jan Novák. Budejovice 2 rallied to within two points at 15-13, but a decisive 6-1 run, capped by a thunderous middle attack from Tomáš Král, sealed the set 25-19.

The second set was a tighter affair. The home team led 12-10 after a clever tip from young opposite Martin Dvořák, but Dobrichcvice responded with a 7-2 surge. Setter Petr Svoboda orchestrated the offense masterfully, finding his outside hitters in transition and keeping the middle blockers guessing. A emphatic block by Lukáš Horák on set point gave the visitors a 25-21 win.

In the third set, Dobrichcvice left no doubt about the outcome. They jumped to a 10-3 lead, forcing Budejovice 2 into two early timeouts. The home side never recovered their composure, and a final ace from Novák completed the sweep at 25-17.

Tactical Story

The match was a tale of two serving strategies. Dobrichcvice served aggressively, recording nine aces and keeping Budejovice 2 out of system for much of the night. Their block, anchored by Král and Horák, neutralized the home team’s outside attack and forced predictable high balls. Meanwhile, Budejovice 2 struggled with reception, limiting their ability to run their middles. When they did pass, their setter was forced into telegraphed outside sets that Dobrichcvice’s defense read comfortably. The visitors also excelled in transition, converting defense into points with remarkable efficiency.

Standout Players

• Jan Novák (Dobrichcvice): Led all scorers with 18 points, including four aces and two blocks. His leadership and serving runs were pivotal.
• Tomáš Král (Dobrichcvice): Dominated the net with 12 points and five blocks, stifling the home team’s middle attack.
• Martin Dvořák (Budejovice 2): The young opposite fought hard, finishing with 11 points, but lacked consistent support around him.
• Petr Svoboda (Dobrichcvice): Distributed the ball brilliantly, keeping all attackers involved and confusing the opposing block.

Season Impact

With this result, TJ Sokol Dobrichcvice moves up the 1. liga table, strengthening their playoff ambitions. For Ceske Budejovice 2, the loss highlights the challenges of competing against more experienced squads. The reserve team remains a development project, but they will need to improve their reception and sideout efficiency to climb the standings. The head-to-head record now favors Dobrichcvice, who have won their last three meetings against the Budejovice reserves.

Next up, Dobrichcvice will look to build on this momentum at home, while Budejovice 2 face another tough test on the road. Both teams will be back in action next weekend as the 1. liga season continues.
