Key moments

The first set set the tone for Piła’s performance. The hosts broke away from 14-13 with a run of strong serves and two blocks, forcing Białystok into a timeout. The visitors reacted positively in the second set, taking advantage of Piła’s dip in reception and winning the key rallies late in the set.

The third set was the turning point. With the score close at 18-17, Piła won four of the next five points, including a long rally that ended with a cross-court kill from Katarzyna Wójcik. That sequence lifted the home crowd and gave Piła the cushion they needed. In the fourth, Piła dominated from the opening serve, building an early lead and never allowing Białystok back into the set.

Tactical story

KS Piła’s block-defence system worked well for most of the match. The home side consistently closed the line on Białystok’s outside hitters, forcing them to attack into the deep corner where Piła’s libero was well positioned. Piła’s serving also targeted Białystok’s weaker passer, limiting the visitors’ ability to run their quick middle attack.

Białystok’s second-set improvement came from better first contact. When their reception held, they were able to involve the middle blockers and create space for their opposite hitter. However, Piła’s serve pressure returned after the interval, and Białystok’s attacking options became narrower as the match progressed.

Standout performers

Katarzyna Wójcik led KS Piła with 20 points, including several crucial kills in the third set. Middle blocker Magdalena Kaczmarek added five blocks and controlled the net alongside her partner in the middle. Setter Natalia Sikorska finished with 40 assists and managed the offence well once Piła regained control of the match.

Oliwia Szymańska was Białystok’s top scorer with 16 points. She was particularly effective in the second set, but Białystok struggled to keep her involved once Piła’s serve-receive pressure increased.

League impact

The victory gives KS Piła Women another important home result in I. Liga Women and keeps them competitive in the upper part of the standings. Białystok will take encouragement from their second-set response but will need more consistency in reception if they are to challenge the division’s stronger teams. Piła’s next challenge will be to reproduce this level of serving and blocking on the road.
