Lvi Prague Women produced a statement road performance in the Extraliga Women, defeating VK Prostějov Women 1-3 after recovering from a narrow first-set loss. The visitors grew into the contest, took control at the net and finished strongly to claim a result that could carry real weight in the league’s upper reaches.

Match overview

Prostějov took the opening set 25-22, leaning on home support and some sharp attacking from the wings. Lvi Prague responded with a 25-21 second set, then edged a tense third set 23-25 to take the lead. The fourth set was the most convincing of the night for the visitors, who closed it 19-25 to complete a 3-1 victory.

The match had the feel of a contest between two teams with clear identities. Prostějov wanted to play fast through the middle and use the crowd to build momentum. Lvi Prague preferred a more patient approach, using serving pressure and block coverage to create transition chances. As the match wore on, that patience paid off.

Key moments

• First set: Prostějov held their nerve in a tight finish, taking the opener behind a late attacking run.
• Second set: Lvi Prague levelled the match with a controlled performance, breaking away in the middle phase through improved serving.
• Third set: The pivotal set of the night went to the visitors 23-25 after a long rally and a crucial block at the end.
• Fourth set: Lvi Prague carried the momentum forward, building an early lead and never allowing Prostějov back into the set.

Tactical story

Lvi Prague’s serve-receive stability was the foundation of the win. The visitors handled Prostějov’s float serves well and kept their setter in system often enough to run a varied offence. Their block also improved as the match progressed, with the middle blockers closing the angle on Prostějov’s outside hitters and forcing several difficult swings.

Prostějov’s best volleyball came in the first set and in patches of the third, when their middle attack created one-on-one opportunities on the outside. But the home side struggled to sustain that rhythm. Too many rallies ended with a blocked attack or a transition point for Lvi Prague, and the visitors’ defence consistently turned pressure into counter-attacking chances.

Standout performers and season impact

Lvi Prague’s opposite hitter delivered important points in each of the final three sets, while the libero was central to the team’s improved defensive shape. The setter also deserves credit for keeping the offence balanced and trusting the middle attack when Prostějov’s block started to drift.

The 3-1 win gives Lvi Prague a valuable three points in the Extraliga Women table and reinforces their credentials as a side capable of competing with the league’s established powers. For VK Prostějov Women, the result is a missed opportunity to protect home court. The team will need to rediscover its late-set composure and improve its transition defence ahead of the next round.
