• Set 1: Odolena Voda 25-23
• Set 2: Odolena Voda 25-21
• Set 3: Odolena Voda 25-19

Key moments

The first set was the decisive psychological battle. Ostrava served well and caused problems with their block, but at 23-23 Odolena Voda produced two excellent defensive plays to set up the counter-attack. The hosts won the next two points and took the set, and the visitors never quite recovered. In the second set, a run of three consecutive points from Odolena Voda’s serve broke a 15-15 tie, and the hosts maintained that advantage to the end.

Tactical story

Odolena Voda’s serve was the foundation of the win. The hosts targeted Ostrava’s reception seams and forced the visitors into predictable first-tempo attacks, which made the block’s job easier. Ostrava had spells of good attacking, particularly through the middle, but they were undone by untimely errors in transition. Odolena Voda’s setter also used the middle effectively to keep Ostrava’s block honest, opening space for the pins in the later sets.

Standout performers

Odolena Voda’s outside hitter Radek Svoboda led the scoring with 18 points and was the go-to attacker in the tight first set. Tomáš Marek added four aces and finished with 13 points, while middle blocker Jiří Hájek contributed four blocks. For Ostrava, Michal Tichý top-scored with 13 points, but the visitors lacked the same balance in attack and struggled to contain Odolena Voda’s serve-receive rhythm.

Season impact

The sweep gives Odolena Voda a full three points and a timely home win in the Extraliga. Ostrava will rue the first set, which was there for the taking, but the broader lesson is that their error count rose whenever the hosts increased serve pressure. Odolena Voda’s challenge is to reproduce this level away from home, where the serve-and-block formula will be tested by stronger reception teams.
