Nova KBM Branik Women vs Braslovce Women: Branik Cruises to 3-0 Victory in 1. DOL Women

Nova KBM Branik Women continued their strong form in the 1. DOL Women with a convincing 3-0 home win over Braslovce Women on October 26, 2026. The Maribor side won 25-17, 25-19, 25-21, using a dominant block and a balanced attack to secure all three points in a match they controlled from start to finish.

Braslovce competed with energy and had moments of attacking quality, but Branik’s serve pressure and defensive organisation proved too much. The victory reinforces Branik’s reputation as one of the leading teams in Slovenian women’s volleyball and gives them another important result in the league standings.

Match Overview

Branik set the tone early with aggressive serving and a well-drilled block. The home side’s front line read Braslovce’s attack well, producing touches and blocks that allowed the defence to transition into quick counterattacks. Branik’s setter used the middle effectively, keeping the visitors’ block off balance throughout the match.

Braslovce’s best period came in the third set, when the visitors found more consistency in reception and began to attack with greater variety. However, Branik responded with a composed finish, closing the set 25-21 to complete a straight-sets win.

Set-by-Set Story

The first set was one-way traffic for much of its duration. Branik broke away early and never allowed Braslovce to settle. Strong serving and a series of block touches helped the home side build a comfortable lead, and they closed the set 25-17.

The second set followed a similar pattern. Braslovce improved slightly in attack, but Branik’s side-out game remained reliable. The home side’s outside hitters found gaps in the Braslovce defence, and the middle attack kept the visitors guessing. Branik took the set 25-19 to move within one set of victory.

Braslovce showed more resistance in the third and stayed close for longer. The visitors’ serve created a few difficult reception moments for Branik, but the home side’s experience showed in the closing points. Branik regained control late and finished the match 25-21.

Key Moments

• Early block dominance: Branik’s front line established control in the first set, forcing Braslovce into repeated adjustments.
• Second-set middle attack: Branik’s setter used the middle effectively to break the visitors’ blocking rhythm.
• Third-set response: When Braslovce threatened to extend the match, Branik steadied and closed the set with a composed final run.

Tactical Story

Branik’s serving strategy was designed to disrupt Braslovce’s first-ball attack, and it worked. The home side mixed float serves with more aggressive jump serves, keeping the visitors’ reception line uncertain. That pressure made Braslovce’s setter predictable, allowing Branik’s block to commit earlier.

In attack, Branik showed excellent balance. The outside hitters carried the load when needed, but the middle blockers were involved regularly and the opposite hitter provided a reliable outlet in transition. That variety made Branik difficult to defend and helped the home side maintain control across all three sets.

Standout Performers

Branik’s middle blocker was influential at both ends, producing key blocks and attacking efficiently in front of the setter. The outside hitter delivered a steady stream of points from the left side, while the libero anchored the defence with important digs in transition. The setter’s decision-making was another highlight, particularly in the second set when she repeatedly found the middle to keep Braslovce’s block honest.

For Braslovce, the opposite hitter was the team’s most consistent attacking threat. The libero also produced several good defensive plays, but the visitors needed more support at the net to slow Branik’s momentum.

Season Impact

The 3-0 win keeps Nova KBM Branik Women in a strong position in the 1. DOL Women standings and adds another clean sheet to their season record. In a league where the leading clubs are expected to take care of home matches, Branik’s ability to win efficiently and protect their set ratio could prove important later in the campaign.

For Braslovce Women, the match offers useful lessons. The visitors showed they can compete in patches, but they will need better reception and a more consistent block to challenge the top teams. Branik, meanwhile, will be pleased with the control they exerted and will look to build on this performance in their next league outing.
