Key moments

The opening set was a point-for-point battle, with Schaffhausen finding just enough at the end to take it 25-23. That proved to be the high point for the home side. Ujpest adjusted its serving strategy in the second set, targeting Schaffhausen’s outside hitters and forcing more predictable attacks. The visitors built a mid-set lead and held it comfortably. The third set was closer, but Ujpest’s block came up with key stops late in the set to deny Schaffhausen a chance to regain momentum. In the fourth, Ujpest jumped ahead early and never allowed the Swiss side back into the match, closing out the win with a composed final stretch.

Tactical story

Ujpest’s victory was built on a clear tactical shift after the first set. The Hungarian side increased its service pressure, which disrupted Schaffhausen’s reception and limited the home team’s ability to involve its middle attackers. Ujpest’s block then began to read the opposing setter more effectively, producing touches that slowed down Schaffhausen’s offense and created counterattack opportunities. Schaffhausen’s defense had some strong moments, especially in the first set, but the home side struggled to sustain its attacking rhythm as the match progressed. Ujpest’s setter also did a good job of varying the attack, keeping Schaffhausen’s block off balance in the final two sets.

Standout performers and season impact

Ujpest’s opposite hitter was a consistent scoring threat, especially in the second and fourth sets, while the team’s middle blockers made important contributions at the net. The libero also delivered several key defensive plays that helped Ujpest control long rallies. For Schaffhausen, the captain and outside hitters fought hard, but the team’s error count rose in the decisive moments. The 3-1 away win gives Ujpest three important points in the Challenge Cup Women tie and puts the Hungarian side in a strong position ahead of the return match.
