AJM/FC Porto Women produced a dominant road display in the CEV Champions League Women, sweeping Cajasol Women 3-0 on October 29, 2026. The Portuguese side controlled the match from the opening set, combining strong serving with a well-organized block to secure a convincing straight-set victory.

Match overview

Cajasol Women had moments of promise, particularly in the second set, but Porto’s consistency in serve-receive and transition proved too much. Porto won all three sets with increasing comfort, closing the match without allowing the hosts to force a fourth set.

• Set 1: AJM/FC Porto Women 25-20
• Set 2: AJM/FC Porto Women 25-22
• Set 3: AJM/FC Porto Women 25-18

How the match unfolded

The first set was competitive early, but Porto gradually pulled away with a mid-set serving run. Their block closed the line effectively, and Cajasol’s attack became predictable. The second set was the hosts’ best period; Cajasol led briefly and forced Porto into some longer rallies. However, Porto’s composure in the final points of the set proved decisive.

That late second-set surge broke Cajasol’s resistance. Porto started the third set with clear authority, moving the ball around and finding gaps in the home defense. Cajasol tried to respond with substitutions and a more aggressive serve, but Porto’s side-out game remained stable and the visitors closed out the sweep.

Tactical story

Porto’s performance was built on balance. Their setter distributed well, keeping the middle involved and creating space for the wing attackers. The serve was aggressive but controlled, limiting Cajasol’s ability to run first-tempo plays. Defensively, Porto’s block and back-row coverage worked together, turning several Cajasol attacks into transition opportunities.

Cajasol’s best moments came when their serve disrupted Porto’s reception, but those moments were too infrequent. The hosts also struggled with unforced errors at the end of sets, allowing Porto to maintain control without needing to take excessive risks.

Standout performers

Porto’s opposite hitter led the scoring with a steady performance across all three sets, while their libero was excellent in reception and defense. The middle blocker also made an impact with timely blocks in the first and third sets. For Cajasol, the captain and outside hitter showed fight in the second set, but the team could not sustain that level against Porto’s pressure.

What the result means

The 3-0 win gives AJM/FC Porto Women a full three points in the Champions League Women standings and a strong platform for the next stage of the campaign. A clean sweep on the road is valuable not only for points but also for set differential and confidence. Porto looked like a team capable of competing deep into the competition.

For Cajasol Women, the defeat highlights the need for greater consistency in serve-receive and late-set execution. They showed enough in the second set to suggest they can compete, but against a disciplined side like Porto, the margin for error is small.
