Olympiacos Piraeus Women secured a 3-1 home victory over ASP Thetis Women in the A1 Women on 24 October 2026. The Piraeus side combined patient attacking with a strong block to overcome a determined Thetis team, closing the match after four competitive sets.

Match overview

Olympiacos took the opening set 25-21, using their serve to keep Thetis away from the middle and creating opportunities in transition. The second set was tighter, but the hosts edged it 25-23 to take a 2-0 lead. Thetis responded with a spirited third set, winning 25-22 to extend the match. Olympiacos, however, reasserted control in the fourth and finished the job 25-19.

Key moments

The third set gave Thetis hope, but Olympiacos’s response in the fourth was immediate. A strong opening to the set, built on serving pressure and a couple of crucial block points, put the hosts in front. Thetis could not reproduce the attacking efficiency that had kept them alive in the third, and Olympiacos closed out the match with a composed final stretch.

Tactical story

Olympiacos’s block-defense relationship was the foundation of the win. The hosts consistently closed the angle on Thetis’s pin attacks, forcing the visitors into more difficult shots and allowing the backcourt to transition quickly. Olympiacos’s setter also used the middle effectively, keeping Thetis guessing and creating space for the outside hitters in key moments.

Standout performers

Olympiacos’s opposite hitter provided a reliable scoring outlet, particularly in the first and fourth sets, while the middle blocker contributed important points at the net. Thetis’s setter kept the visitors competitive with smart distribution, but the team’s serving errors at critical moments proved costly.

League impact

The home win keeps Olympiacos Piraeus Women in a strong position in the A1 Women table and reinforces their ability to close matches after a dropped set. Thetis will take encouragement from their third-set response but will need greater consistency to convert tight sets into points.
