Aliaga Futbol 2-1 Şanlıurfaspor: Late Winner Settles Tight Turkish Second League Contest

Aliaga Futbol edged Şanlıurfaspor 2-1 in the Turkish Second League on 28 September 2026, claiming a hard-fought home victory that was decided by a late breakthrough. In a match that swung between control and counter-attack, the hosts found the decisive moment in the closing stages to take all three points.

The win strengthens Aliaga’s position in the league table and hands Şanlıurfaspor a narrow away defeat that will sting, especially after the visitors had worked their way back into the contest. In the Turkish Second League, where away form often separates promotion hopefuls from mid-table sides, this was a significant result for the home team.

Match Overview

Aliaga Futbol began the match with energy, pressing Şanlıurfaspor high and looking to force mistakes in the defensive third. Their reward came after a period of sustained pressure, when a well-worked move opened space on the edge of the box and the finish was drilled low into the corner. The home crowd responded, and for a while Aliaga looked capable of adding a second.

Şanlıurfaspor, however, grew into the game. They began to hold possession more effectively in midfield, drawing Aliaga out of shape and creating opportunities on the flanks. Their equaliser arrived before the hour mark, a reminder of their quality and resilience. From that point, the match became a tactical battle, with both teams wary of leaving space behind.

Key Moments

• Aliaga’s opener: A composed finish after patient build-up gave the hosts the lead.
• Şanlıurfaspor’s equaliser: The visitors responded with a well-timed attacking move and a finish that silenced the home support.
• Late winner: Aliaga regained the lead in the final stages, capitalising on a defensive lapse and converting under pressure.
• Final defensive stand: Aliaga survived a tense period of stoppage time, clearing several dangerous balls into the box.

Tactical Story

Aliaga’s success came from their ability to switch between controlled possession and quick vertical attacks. Their midfield won the majority of second balls, which allowed them to sustain pressure without committing too many players forward. Şanlıurfaspor’s best spells came when they circulated the ball patiently and isolated Aliaga’s full-backs, but they could not turn that territory into a second goal.

The decisive tactical adjustment came late on. Aliaga pushed their wingers higher and targeted the space behind Şanlıurfaspor’s advanced full-backs. That pressure produced the winning goal and showed why the home side’s game management was the difference. Şanlıurfaspor will feel they deserved a point, but they were punished for a brief loss of concentration at the worst possible moment.

What the Result Means

For Aliaga Futbol, the three points are a boost in the Turkish Second League standings and a confidence lift ahead of their next fixtures. For Şanlıurfaspor, the defeat is a frustrating one, but their performance offered enough positives to suggest they will remain competitive. In a league defined by fine margins, this match was another example of how a single late moment can decide everything.
