Polonia Środa Wielkopolska B (W) is the women’s reserve team of Polonia Środa Wielkopolska, a club rooted in the town of Środa Wielkopolska in Greater Poland. The B side is designed to give emerging players the one thing development football cannot simulate: regular, competitive minutes in a senior environment.

Reserve teams are often overlooked in the wider football conversation, but they are essential to a healthy club. Polonia Środa Wielkopolska B (W) provides a place where young players can make mistakes, learn from them and build confidence without the immediate pressure that comes with leading the senior line. It is a bridge, a laboratory and a team in its own right.

The bridge between youth and senior football

The main purpose of the B team is to prepare players for the first team. That means more than fitness work. Players are asked to understand the club’s tactical ideas, communicate with team-mates and handle the emotional swings of a competitive league season. A young winger who dominates at youth level must learn how to beat an experienced full-back; a central defender must learn how to organise a back line.

Polonia Środa Wielkopolska B (W) gives those lessons a safe setting. Coaches can rotate the squad, give minutes to players returning from injury and test different positions. The results are important, but the development of individuals is the measuring stick.

Regional competition and local rivalries

The B team competes in Greater Poland’s regional women’s football structure, where fixtures are often local and intensely contested. These matches carry a community feel. Supporters from Środa Wielkopolska and nearby towns can watch the next generation, while players get a taste of the physicality and game management required at senior level.

Local rivalries add extra motivation. For younger players, a derby can be the first time they experience a crowd with real emotional investment. Learning to handle that atmosphere is part of the education.

A shared identity with the first team

Polonia Środa Wielkopolska B (W) shares the club’s name, colours and values. The reserve side is not a separate project; it is part of the same football family. When a B-team player is called up to the senior squad, she already knows the staff, the expectations and the style of play. That continuity is a major advantage for a club that wants to build from within.

The connection also works in the other direction. Senior players who need match sharpness can feature for the B team, raising the standard around them and passing on experience to younger team-mates.

What the B team offers players

• Regular game time: Young players need minutes, and the reserve side provides them in a competitive setting.
• Tactical education: The B team reinforces the first team’s ideas, so moving up feels natural.
• Physical development: Senior-style matches build strength, endurance and durability.
• Mental resilience: Players learn to cope with setbacks, pressure and the demands of a full season.

Looking ahead

Polonia Środa Wielkopolska B (W) will continue to be judged by the players it produces and the standards it maintains. A successful reserve team gives the senior side a deeper squad and the club a stronger identity. For anyone following women’s football in Greater Poland, the B team is a useful guide to the talent coming through at Polonia Środa Wielkopolska.
