Pogoń Szczecin II Women is the reserve team of Pogoń Szczecin's women's football section, based in Szczecin in northwestern Poland. The side serves as a bridge between the club's youth academy and the senior women's team, giving developing players regular competitive football.

A reserve team in Polish women's football

Reserve teams are an important part of the player-development landscape in Poland. Pogoń Szczecin II W competes in lower-tier women's competition, where young players can experience senior football without the full pressure of the first team.

The team's role is both sporting and developmental. Results matter, but the primary objective is to prepare players for the demands of the senior game and to keep squad members match-fit.

Pathway to the first team

Pogoń Szczecin's women's first team competes in the upper levels of Polish women's football, and the reserve side is designed to support that structure. Players who perform well for the second team can train with the senior squad and earn opportunities when injuries or squad needs arise.

• Development: young players gain experience in open-age competition.
• Match fitness: returning and fringe players get regular minutes.
• Tactical alignment: the reserve team follows the club's playing principles.
• Opportunity: strong performances can lead to first-team involvement.

Competing in the lower leagues

Pogoń Szczecin II W plays in the Polish women's football pyramid, where the standard is competitive and the travel can be demanding. These fixtures expose young players to different styles of play and physical challenges that are essential for their development.

The reserve team also helps the club manage its squad across a long season. With first-team, reserve, and youth fixtures running in parallel, Pogoń can offer playing time to a wider group of players.

Club identity and the city of Szczecin

Pogoń Szczecin is one of the most recognizable sporting names in northwestern Poland, and the women's reserve team carries that identity into its matches. The club's colors and badge give players a sense of belonging to a larger institution with a proud football tradition.

Szczecin's football community follows the club's senior teams closely, and the women's game continues to grow in visibility. The reserve side is part of that growth, giving local players a clear route into competitive football.

Growing women's football in Poland

Women's football in Poland has been expanding, with more clubs investing in youth pathways and senior structures. Pogoń Szczecin II W reflects that trend: a reserve team created not just to fill fixtures but to develop the next generation.

For young players in the Szczecin area, the team offers a realistic pathway. For the club, it provides depth and continuity. As the women's game continues to develop, the reserve side's role is likely to become even more important.
