Fusion Caribe U19 is an elite youth development side based in Trinidad and Tobago, serving as a critical stepping stone for young Caribbean female footballers aiming for professional careers abroad. Part of the larger Fusion Caribe soccer organisation, this U19 squad competes in the Trinidad and Tobago Women's Football League (TTWFL) as a developmental team, providing competitive experience against senior sides. The club is a recognised nursery for the Trinidad and Tobago women’s national team.
Development Pathway and Philosophy
Founded in 2015, Fusion Caribe set out to bridge the gap between youth and senior football. The U19 team operates on a model of intense technical training, with a focus on ball control, quick decision-making, and tactical fitness. Many players train six days a week alongside academic support. The club has produced over 20 players who have represented Trinidad and Tobago at various youth and senior levels, including forward Aimee Bailey and defender Kiana Joseph, who both later earned scholarships to NCAA Division I universities in the United States.
Competition and Recent Performance
In the current TTWFL season, Fusion Caribe U19 sits mid-table, holding their own against more experienced clubs. The team’s top scorer, forward Simone Richards, has netted 8 goals in 12 matches. The side is known for its energetic pressing game and commitment to playing out from the back, even under pressure. Goalkeeper Tiana Ramdhan was called up to the national U20 camp after a string of impressive performances. The U19 team also reached the semifinals of the National Women’s FA Cup last year, a significant achievement for a side primarily focused on development.
Community and International Exposure
Fusion Caribe runs outreach programmes in underserved communities across Trinidad, offering free training sessions and equipment. The U19 team regularly participates in international youth tournaments, such as the Caribbean Cup and invitationals in Jamaica and Barbados, giving players exposure to different styles. The club’s ultimate goal is to see its graduates succeed at the CONCACAF level and eventually secure professional contracts in Europe or the NWSL. Fusion Caribe U19 remains a beacon of hope and opportunity for young female footballers across the Caribbean.
