Malmö FF 0-1 Häcken — Häcken produced one of the away performances of the Allsvenskan round, beating Malmö FF 1-0 at Eleda Stadion on 18 October 2026. The result dealt a significant blow to Malmö’s title hopes and underlined Häcken’s reputation as a side capable of hurting the league’s biggest clubs on the counter-attack.

Match overview

Malmö dominated possession and territory for long periods, but the home side struggled to turn that control into clear chances. Häcken defended with discipline, kept their shape in the middle third and looked dangerous whenever they won the ball back. The only goal came midway through the second half, and from that point on the visitors defended their lead with the kind of organisation that has become a hallmark of their better away displays.

Key moments

• 58th minute: Häcken took the lead with a composed finish after a rapid transition down the right.
• 66th minute: Malmö forced a sharp save from the Häcken goalkeeper with a curling effort from the edge of the box.
• 79th minute: A Malmö header from a corner flashed wide as the home crowd sensed an equaliser.
• 88th minute: Häcken cleared a goalmouth scramble to survive their most anxious moment of the night.

Tactical story

Malmö’s build-up was patient, but Häcken’s mid-block made it difficult to find pockets between the lines. The visitors were happy to concede possession in less dangerous areas and then attack the space behind Malmö’s advanced full-backs. That approach paid off for the goal, and it also allowed Häcken to manage the closing stages without abandoning their defensive structure. Malmö increased the tempo late on, but too many crosses were hurried and too few shots tested the goalkeeper.

Standout players

Häcken’s goalscorer took his chance brilliantly, while the midfield screen in front of the defence repeatedly broke up Malmö’s rhythm. The Häcken goalkeeper was calm under late pressure, claiming crosses and making one important save. For Malmö, the captain tried to drive the team forward, but the attacking line lacked the sharpness needed to convert sustained pressure into goals.

Allsvenskan table impact

The defeat leaves Malmö FF with little room for error in the title race, especially with Hammarby and other contenders continuing to collect points. Häcken’s victory strengthens their push for a top-half finish and serves as a reminder of their ability to compete with the league’s strongest squads. For Malmö, the focus now shifts to rediscovering their cutting edge in the final third before the next round.
