Transinvest 2-0 Hegelmann: Clinical A Lyga Win Strengthens Home Side’s European Push

Transinvest secured a composed 2-0 victory over Hegelmann in the Lithuanian A Lyga on Saturday, October 24, 2026, using a first-half set-piece breakthrough and a late counter-attacking finish to claim all three points. The win keeps the hosts firmly in the race for a top-four finish and extends their strong home form as the season enters its decisive stretch.

Match Overview

On a cool evening in Širvintos, Transinvest set up with a compact 4-2-3-1 shape and looked content to let Hegelmann control possession in harmless areas. The visitors saw more of the ball, particularly in the first half, but struggled to turn that territory into clear chances. Transinvest’s discipline off the ball and speed in transition proved the difference.

The opener arrived in the 34th minute when a corner from the right was met by central defender Martynas Dapkus, whose powerful header beat the goalkeeper at the near post. Hegelmann responded with a spell of pressure either side of half-time, but Transinvest’s goalkeeper Ernestas Jankauskas made two important saves to preserve the lead.

Key Moments

• 34’ – Transinvest 1-0: Dapkus rose highest from a corner and headed in at the near post.
• 57’ – Hegelmann appeal: The visitors claimed a penalty for a challenge in the box, but the referee waved play on.
• 71’ – Crucial save: Jankauskas denied Hegelmann’s striker from close range after a low cross.
• 78’ – Transinvest 2-0: Substitute Deividas Malžinskas finished a rapid counter-attack, sliding the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.

Tactical Story

Transinvest’s game plan was built on defensive compactness and quick vertical transitions. The midfield pairing screened the back four well, forcing Hegelmann into wide areas and speculative crosses. When the hosts won the ball, they looked to release their wide forwards quickly, and that approach produced the second goal.

Hegelmann’s high defensive line was vulnerable to balls played in behind, and Transinvest exploited that space more frequently after taking the lead. The visitors’ possession statistics were healthy, but their final-third decision-making let them down. A lack of cutting edge in the box ultimately cost them a chance to take something from the game.

Standout Performers

Dapkus was excellent at both ends, defending assertively and scoring the goal that settled the home side. Jankauskas produced the key saves when Hegelmann threatened, while Malžinskas made an instant impact from the bench with the clinching goal. For Hegelmann, the midfield captain worked tirelessly, but the forward line lacked the sharpness needed to break down a well-organised defence.

Table Impact

The three points strengthen Transinvest’s position in the upper half of the Lithuanian A Lyga standings and keep them in touch with the European qualification places. Hegelmann remain in mid-table and will need to improve their away form if they are to close the gap on the top four. For Transinvest, the result is another sign that their home ground can become a genuine fortress in the final weeks of the campaign.
